What's the most reliable vehicle you've ever owned?

For me it was "Old Blue", my 2006 4th Gen 4 Runner, SR5 4WD. Sold it back on 2023 to the little old lady down the street for her loser, tattoo artist son. It was a purple unicorn of sorts @flatus . Only had 103K miles at 17 years of age.

Only issues were a bad water pump at 55k under warranty and needed a new radiator at 17 years of age and 102K miles (pretty normal). Other than that just the usual fluid changes, brakes and spark plug maintenance.

I do think Dave Ramsey (TITTT) is full of shit on a lot of things and much of his advice only works if you live in cheap flyover country, but I like his take on cars and avoiding expense here. Gotta get 20 years out of these things @BleachedAnusDawg !!

Awesome. How so few miles?

I bought my 2008 4th gen sr5 4wd used (also a Dave Ramsey and, esp Clark Howard, strong endorsement) in 2015 with 86k miles for $16k, cash.

Every additional year saves me more, plus I like the vehicle. Wish I had a backup camera when I'm pulling the jet skiff, but otherwise, I don't see any value in trading it in for a potentially worse model.

Bought in 2009 off a 3 year lease with 23K miles for 22k. Could have sold in 2023 for 15K with 103K miles. If that's no holding value I don't know what is.

Reasons for low miles: short commute from 2010- 2019 and then I became a work from home bro in 2019 before it was cool.

Other factors: Mrs Yella hates long road trips and prefers to fly if its longer than 3 hrs away (Dave Ramsey hates my wife) and by 2015 we bought a new Accura MDX that became the primary family driving vehicle.

Honda Accord - drove that bitch into the ground. Little to no maintenance other than changing the oil. Made it to about 200K, I think. Probably could have done more.

Mazda CX9 - again drove it into the ground. Best snow vehicle ever. Ditched it off to my kid who drove it into the ground (didn't take good care of it) and we reclaimed it when he bought a pick up truck of his own. Drove it into the ground again. Spent about $5K getting some body work done and some engine stuff. Gave it to my SIL who has 3 kids - one of whom is getting her license. It sits in her driveway unused while she drives this fucking beat to shit Caravan and a Toyota Camry. Pisses me off to no end but don't have the power to reclaim it.

The two Highlanders we drive haven't had anything other than regular maintenance (and probably missed a few of those along the way). Plan to drive the shit out of both of them to the 250K range.

Got out of my impress others with new cars phase a while back. Drove an Audi and the wife had a Beamer. Now, give zero fucks about vehicles. Get me from point A to B. That's it.

1991 Toyota 4x4 pickup 4 cylinder. My first brand new vehicle ever. Crank windows, no A/C but reliable.
Traded it in for a '95 Toyota pickup extended cab V6 with AC. But two people hit me over time so gave it up.

2003 Toyota Tacoma Quad cab V6. Still have it. 136K miles. The lights behind the HVAC controls keep going out and I think my AC compressor is leaking, but other than that would let trust it with my grandparents driving cross country. The AC will need to be fixed before Summer here in DFW.

2013 Lexus ES 350. Bought it CPO in 2018. Still have it and drives like a champ.

2020 Camaro SS. 'Nuff said on that.

Only issue has been a bad oil pan gasket which was replaced under warranty. Zero issues and it's a blast to drive. No Euro cars can match the sound, power, and reliability of this car. 52k miles on the odometer as my daily. Will drive it until the Camaro is revived in a few years (fingers crossed) or I go the route of a super boring daily driver, like a Toyota or Honda of some sort, and put a 3rd car in the garage for weekends (ZL1 Camaro is the goal).

Driving the same thing for 20 years...kill me. Too many hours spent in cars to not have something enjoyable or "nice" within a reasonable budget.

My 1989 Jeep Commanche Sport Truck didn't cost me a maintenance dime until it had over 200k. It started blowing oil back out through the air cleaner, and no it wasn't a PCV valve that motor didn't have one. That resulted in a ruined alternator due to the mess.

Fixed that and cleaned it up. Later I changed the water pump when it started leaking. That was a piece of cake even easier than the alternator.

My GF hit a deer and smashed the driver's front fender and door. I got tired of the beat up old thing and got a new truck. I gave that one to my dad and he drove used it as a beater 4x4 for a few years. He died in 2007 and my nephew gave the truck away. It was near 300k by that point without a single major failure. It was having electrical issues...bad blinkers, popping fuses, but no engine or running gear issues. I saw it in town a few years later with a new fender and door, smoking like a chimney but still running.

I have a slow leak in my AC, too. I periodically top it off to get me through the TX summers. Not a wise approach, I know.

I replaced an alternator last year, which was a lot more expensive than expected bc of genuine Toyota part.

I'm still driving the purple hellcat that Jimmy inspired me to buy in 2021.

My current 2016 Nissan Altima

We've been through a lot together
The rodents agree.

PS @DerekJohnson mice ate the wires last spring on my wife's 1 year old Audio. About $750 bill to AllState.

Since then I've been on a mice genocide that's service our block well. 2 x industrial bait stations and I change the poison out every month. Probably have killed 200 to 300 of those fuckers in the past 8 months.

My parents had a '69 (huhuhuhuh) Malibu. It was a tank. They sold it to some guy from Auburn in 1993.

I've had an Avalon for a while. It has needed work, but it has 246k miles or something (I can't remember without looking).
