NFL: was always for fags
MLB: always for fags
NHL: season is too long, teams are too anonymous now when the playoffs start. Expansion is a turn off.
NBA: the players live and act like Kings and dress like they're fashion designers and it's a turn off for the fans. Still attend ~5-10 games a year and enjoy the playoffs.
CFB: ride or die

Even after all that pro sports ball came to Seattle in the 70's the Huskies managed to remain top Dawg in the Emerald City well through the 1990s.
This was one of the unique things about the program that we've lost.

There's something here. It certainly felt like UW football was much more part of the cultural fabric when I was growing up and before I left town in 2008. I get the vibe this has changed with programs in major cities the past couple of decades.

People forget that the NFL of the 80's and 90s was not ubiquitous, 900 lb gorilla that it is now. Once upon a time, a lot of games weren't sold out and thus blacked out for the local market.
Add in the rise of the NFL and much higher number of transplants with no UW connection, and UW will never be the hottest ticket in Seattle ever again.
That said, we should be selling out Husky Stadium for, at least, 3 or 4 home games a year at minimum.
 
NBA - Mostly when Gary Payton was traded. 5 years later the Sonics were poof, gone. The longer the NBA waits to bring a team back, the less likely I am going to be into it. I do watch the playoffs after they get to the conference semifinals. Echo the statements of others that lack of college hoops / euros has impacted who I even know in the league.
MLB - 2002, lost huge division lead, and I think the Angels won the division and series. I still go but I just can't get real motivated for 1 of 162 games. I'd shrink the MLB season by 1-2 months. Start it mid April and end in Mid September.
NFL - I'm still following but not quite like 10 years ago. Seahawks have done a good job of keeping the team, mostly competitive.
NHL - Kraken playoff run was fun two years ago. Didn't have root so I missed a lot of games. Tickets are astronomical.
MLS - Love the Sounders but honestly a bit turned off by the SJW / Antifa set of fans that brought politics into the stadium (TITTT). Had tickets (4 game packages) a couple years, but prices kept getting bumped up. Move to Apple TV has been brutal for my interest level. I mostly follow games on twitter or just rely on youtube highlights, which are helpful.
CFB: I'm fucking here, and losing my voice on Saturdays. Some days I may need to take a walk for perspective.
CMBB: I'm still a ticket holder, but attend much less frequently. B1G move actually makes it a bit more enticing. Transfer Portal and NBA rules have made it tough to follow / support players. Season starts in two weeks and I think I know 4 of the players?

I just don't understand how you could walk through the tailgating for the Michigan game, one of the major games the last couple years such as Oregon/Old Stanford and think that anything has changed much.
2008-10 I thought it was different because with Ty it was clear that they weren't trying.
But the only thing that seems to have changed to me is just the U-District, which pretends like cfb doesn't even exist, even on gamedays.

This is accurate. I was actually going to say at least for now when you're at the stadium for a big game it feels the same. For now as long as UW is relatively special the atmosphere is there and especially if it's a big time opponent.
This could be because I don't work at an office, don't live in Seattle, and don't leave the psych ward a ton but I felt like the general casual awareness for UW is way down. I would say the Coug too. I'm sure that UW's downfall happened right when the Seahawks took off didn't help
 
I'm not broken. I'm just strangely disinterested right now and am not sure if it's ever coming back.
  • Most of what made me interested in college football doesn't exist anymore. I like to play amateur GM and cfb rosters are changing too rapidly to bother with it now. No longer interested in recruiting or off-season natties and only marginally interested in watching the games.
  • I never really cared about the Sonics. I grew up close to Portland and always pulled for the blazers when I cared. It's ridiculous for Seattle not to have a NBA team though and I'd like to see it come back.
  • I liked the Seahawks when they had Curt Warner and Kenny Easley and Steve Largent. Haven't really given a fuck since.
  • I'm still into baseball. The Ms are fun to play amateur GM with, since it's always easy to see what they should do but won't.
  • I know not of these other sports franchises mentioned by others.
 
Larry Scott and his Direct TV Fuck UP. No home games since then. That changes this year (two).
Went to the final P12 championship game.

I tend to think of my various sports fandoms like relationships:
CFB: Married, ‘til death do us part. Ride or die. Childhood sweethearts/first love. Been in couples counseling many times. Every time I threaten to leave, no one takes it seriously.
NFL: Long-term, on-again-off again relationship/broken engagement. Could’ve gone the distance, but we both changed too much. Still enjoy the occasional hookup.
NBA: High school crush that brutally ghosted me after I refused to sleep with them at prom and then got the next chick he went out with pregnant. Fuck them.

MLB: Bitter divorce but are now civil and do a decent job co-parenting our kids. I enjoy my freedom and alimony checks, while he’s on his fifth wife, swearing “this time it’s different”. It never is.
NHL: Connected on a dating app with a Seattle guy. I didn’t feel there was any chemistry there, but everyone says “give him a chance”. At dinner he only talks about himself and hits on our waitress. I excuse myself to use the ladies room and don’t come back. End up hooking up with a hottie at the bar from Colorado. We now are FWB.
CMBB: Summer romance. Broke up when we both had to go back to school. Very fond memories. Still followed him on social media. Ran into him recently and he’s done the midlife crisis glow up. We exchanged numbers. Not sure I’ll call, as it would be a long distance thing…but he did look GOOD.
MLS: Almost forgot about him. Blind date/set up by friends. Zero chemistry. Last I heard he married a nice yoga instructor and they raise alpacas outside of Portland.

CFB - have always loved it, the energy, rivalries, and differing locations make it interesting. Moving to B1G will further energize this. Not a big fan of NIL and rent-a players, too NFL ish, but it’s not dragging me down
CBB- like March madness, used to follow every uw game, but haven’t in last 5 years
NBA - was pretty hardcore in the 80’s and 90’s. Haven’t watched a game in 15 yrs
MLB- don’t care, and sure as hell don’t care about the M’s, used to be good in the 90’s
NFL- Never was a fan, I watch it casually because I like football, don’t follow any particular team.

MLS - no
NHL- I could get into it, but don’t
 
Season tickets: Vaccine requirement. Sold my tickets to someone that forged a card but there's no way in hell I'm participating in that shit, never renewed. Thanks Cohen.
Donations to Tyee: support of BLM/Pride shit, which in its documents states that it does not support fathers which every player on that fucking team needs and will likely become one day. Why make donations when money just goes to these fucking money laundering schemes. Now they just released their dei report and oh how amazing the University of Washington is doing that being racist.
MLB/NBA: the magic of the '90s Superstar s fading away. Jordan, Griffey Jr, sure you may have tailed into a few years later but oh well. Maybe I just got older.
NFL: so gay now
CFB: not broken on me yet
 
NBA: When Brickowski got a technical for staring angrily at Rodman during the finals with the Bulls. Whole fucking thing is rigged and the Sonics bullshit was pitiful.

NFL: When Kroenke was allowed to leave STL, despite having 60,000 plus fans in the stands for a losing team and the City willing to pay for a new waterfront stadium.

CBB: just not worth a shit. Ever. So tired of 19 year old millionaires trying to prove how tough they are.

Soccer: After learning players can sell futures rights. Talk about a broken financial model. US soccer specifically it is the continued lack of Latin style players. We continually play English style. Pretty sure the top 10 latin league teams in LA can beat the national team.

NHL: Still a fan. Football is a game, baseball a pastime, hockey is a party. Love that my ultra liberal teen daughter seems to have a thing for tall pasty white guys who play hockey. Current boyfriend has his high school all time goal record. In STL that is an achievement.

CFB: Still in it. Willingham was a serious test, especially when he popped up on the playoff committee. Lake was another serious test but Cauce and Cohen handled it. If Fisch gives up playcalling we are fine.

MLB: never watched the Mariners except when Ayala was pitching. Fucker invented ways to loose. Cardinals are OK for the most part, just hate the constant music and noise. Baseball games don’t need to be exciting at every moment. Would like a chance to hit on the female cards fans. Best looking female fans are in baseball. Added bonus here in the Midwest that they like being women, instead of the many feminazi types you find in the Seattle area.

WNBA: I’d rather shit out my mouth

Poker: why the fuck is this always on sports channels? Refer to WNBA comment.

Olympics: too many stupid sports. My HOA has a waterski team. Boring as shit. Feel the same about most Olympic events.
 
St Louis did get hosed on the Rams but Inglewood Stadium and the surrounding development is a gold mine
