What the hell happened?

I think the injury thing is overthinking it by me but that's what we're here for. My doog take is that it may have been a good sign that the team had a hangover from Ohio State. Tells me they expected to win that game and played hard. I also wonder if Demond needed some time to adjust from playing a defense of that level. They didn't need to push and force the way they did to compete and he could excel with his legs when needed against a defense like Maryland in a way he couldn't against Ohio State.

We got a win when Demond played as bad as he can play in the first half. Fisch needs to scheme it better too. Demond is great but there are certain things he doesn’t do well. He could be a truly great player, but we still need to help him out a little more.

Coleman up the middle with Williams having the option to cut it off tackle should get 1 or 2 yards every time
Do it quick not some slow developing play that get stuffed behind the scrimmage

Not breaking new ground here but would really love to see Demond out of the pocket more for a lot of reasons. I remember playing Judd with de Laura in 2022 and he killed us basically over and over again rolling him out and he would either get the first just running or throw it downfield.

We scored 3 after Maryland went up 20-0, they promptly went 3 and out, and then we started moving the ball and Maryland (and their fans) immediately assumed they were going to lose the game. Snowballed for them after that.
Maryland fans claim the guy who was tossed out for targeting at the end of the first half was really good and cost them the game. I have no idea if that is true but they want an investigation into the Big 10.
Yeah cause the Big 10 is out to support the team which has to play 5 conference opponents off of byes. Sure.gif
I saw that play. What a gay call.

The mental aspect of football / sports has always interested me and since Demond hardly ever throws interceptions, his INT on the first drive may have rattled him some. He's just a true soph and prides himself on taking care of the ball so I'm glad he was able to bounce back.
Also, the staff may have reminded him that a TE is a QBs best friend while dialing up more plays for DeGraaf.
Against Rutgers, I'd like to see Moore help McCree in pass pro and then have a delayed release as a 3rd read with DeGraaf lined out in the slot.
Demond threw a pick 6 to start the bowl game and still crushed it so that’s twice he’s proven that he can bounce back. Good shit.👌👌
Oh yeah, forgot about that and good point.

needed time to adjust to a D that wasn’t as good as the bucknuts? Make that make sense for me. Adjusting up, more difficult but adjusting down should not be difficult.

My doog take is that Maryland is actually pretty good and will win 8 games.
The cross cuntry travel, Buck hangover, and Fisch FS play calling for a half made the DAWGS a bit shell shocked.
Also, Demond probably has a bruised hand, or fracture in a finger type thing @WoolleyDoog

Fisch was not the problem. Demond needs to pass the ball to wide open recievers

Fisch needs to see his QB is off and call some different plays.
Fisch was definitely the problem against Ohio State

You ever gone from banging a 9 to a 6? It takes time to slow your reads down again.

I guess but Fisch is running the ball plenty and I didn't see a huge difference in the play calling between the halves. At a certain point the QB needs to do his job. If he stares down the field in another game I would start to wonder if a series watching Tim Horton would be necessary

The quick passing game was underutilized against both Ohio State and Maryland
