The cool part is that He has the freedom to retire if He doesn't wish to allow his body the abuse anymore.
All of the other major sports actually negotiated guarantees into their contracts that make it more than possible to be set for life after one deal.
While as the NFLPA hired Uncle Tom to negotiate their latest deal. If they had any balls, they would have held out for what they really wanted and needed. BUt they didn't have the guts to miss a mortgage payment, so they got what they got.
No sympathy here.
