It's a good thing the earlier registration of guns in Germany didn't fall into the wrong hands and were not used by the Nazis to disarm the "undesirables." Maybe that's why Congress reaffirmed the 2A rights in 1941 and prohibited registration. Of course the gun grabbers argued that a registry would never be used to confiscate guns in the US.
