What I’m hearing

My theory for a while is that it's DeBoer that's delaying negotiations. He's a competitive guy and knows what he has with this team.

He thinks he's winning a natty and is betting on himself. "We'll discuss my contract on January 9th."

Yep, I've had the same theory.

The extra pay differential if he wins out is larger than any possible downside if he loses.

I also suspect he likes his coordinators and he wanted to prove the doubters wrong.

We might still have the worst coordinators of any 13-0 Pac12 champ that is 9-0 against ranked teams and 3-0 against Oregon -- but DeBoer wants his coordinators paid.
