What does this team look like next year?

Now that the McDaniels cum stains are starting to dry and peel off, what can we actually expect from this team next year? Obviously we all love our front court, but what about the back court? Is Green who we hope he is? Who the hell is going to give us 3 point offense? Do we have an actual 2 besides Battle, or are we planning on moving Naz and Bey into that role? Does Hamier Wright ever see the court again? Do Roberts or BPJ even sniff minutes? I'm asking a lot of questions that I don't have answers to because I don't know shit. But that's not going to stop me from posting my completely uninformed projected rotation for next year:

G: Green, Hardy
G: Naz, Battle
G/F: Bey
F: McDaniels, Wright
F: Stewart, BPJ

If Naz could hit an open 3 (and not airball every third attempt) that would be huge

Feels like Battle could end up playing a ton or literally not play at all, EWIWBI
 
I think the roster will give Hopkins a lot of depth to work with. He could have a rotation of 8-10 and still redshirt a couple of incoming freshmen. I think Quade Green, McDaniels, and Stewart start but there should be a good competition for playing time overall. Bey may be a key if Battle needs a year, but think Hardy, Roberts, Wright, and Carter will all be part of the rotation somewhere. The team will have a lot of youth and the coaches will have a big challenge to turn the promising roster into a dominant team. Perhaps the team will start the season with a better offense, and a defense that improves over the season? Can the Huskies peak at the end of the season and get to the final four? I'm hoping...

Start of the season the guard play could be downright abysmal.

I know everyone is hoping Hardy turns out ok but he couldnt even squeeze out minimal relief mins from Crisp who was giving everyone aneurysms, so Im not hopeful.

How do you distribute the minutes at the start of the season without Nowell or Quade?

200 total mpg last year:

Nowell 35 mpg
Crisp 33 mpg
Thybulle 31 mpg
Dickerson 26 mpg
Green 23 mpg
Carter 21 mpg
Wright 18 mpg
Timmins 10 mpg
Bey 6 mpg
Hardy 0 mpg

Hypothetical:

Hardy 30 mpg (10 Nowell + 20 Crisp)
Naz 31 mpg (21 original + 10 Nowell)
Battle 20 mpg (10 Thybulle + 10 Nowell)
Mcdaniels 30 (15 Thybulle + 15 Green)
Stewart 31 mpg (from 26 Dickerson and 5 Timmons)

BENCH:
Bey 20 mpg (6 original + 6 Thybulle + 8 Green)
Wright 18 mpg (original)
Timmons 5 mpg (original)

Mins still to fill:
5 mpg Nowell
13 mpg Crisp

Hardy has basically gone from not playing to playing 30 mpg every game. Naz, Stewart, and McDaniels are playing almost the entire game.

Bey and Battle are splitting heavy time at the 2-4 depending on matchups.

Wright plays major mins every game as versatile bigman off the bench.

Still leaves 18 mpg available with basically no one else that can play 1/2 guard.

Nowell coming back changes the look of the team so much.

(It doesnt really matter though, since Nowell is gone.)

Looking at Battle's clips, he looks like the real deal and should be the starting 2. He's got good quickness, can help with point guard duties until Green can play, and could take Thybulle's role. If he becomes the defensive specialist, who steps up to be the "leader"? It seems the Huskies have at least 3 freshman candidates for that leadership role with McDaniels, Battle, & Stewart. Stewart is going to dominate inside. Battle & McDaniels should be exciting to watch. Green isn't a freshman, but he'll be new on the court. He and Hardy should make for depth at PG. Can all these young talented kids play together as a team? The coaches need to be at their best this year. Talented youth is a really good problem to have, and something that should be fun to watch. Good times ahead...
 
the team is going to be disappointing until the guard play is figured out. We have a chance to go on a big run though when Green can play in January.

We need at least 1, probably 2 guys who can stretch the floor. Hopefully battle and carter can help with that.
 
Since I only care about stars, why the negative vibes about BPJ? Wasn’t he a 4-star? I know he was injured part of his senior year and last year (what specific injuries?), but I wouldn’t expect a 4-star to battle Sam “The Fawn” Timmons in his second year in the program. Does he just suck or what?

Easily. I don't think Timmons even sees the court next year outside of victory cigar minutes.

Hopefully Stewart is playing 30+ mpg so that pretty much eliminates anyone else really playing the 5

Wright should play the minimal spot fill in time at the 5 when Stewart needs to come out and then everyone else just slides down one.

Bey, McDaniels, and Battle can all play 2-4 in the zone so Timmons, BPJ and Roberts should all see very limited playing time regardless.
 
I honestly think that Wright is someone to keep an eye on, yes he was objectively pretty sad last season, but he was a true freshman, unless something is catastrophically wrong he'll get better.

I think the outcome of this season depends more upon the play of backups than is being given attention.

The first half of the season at PG is crucial, having quade for p12 play is great, but unfortunately the entire season is taken in, I truly have no clue who will begin the season at the head of the offense, kind of concerning.

I'm pretty high on Hardy as the PG to begin the season. If he wouldnt have gotten hurt at the beginning of the season, he likely would have been getting increased minutes similar to how Bey did. Due to the upperclassmen last season, the freshmen werent required to take big minutes before they were ready.

For players coming off the bench, whichever of naz/bey that doesnt start will be the first off the bench. The next off the bench will be Roberts and/or Battle depending on the types of matchups, both are very versitle players. BPJ probably needs another year to develop, but will probably get 8-10 min/g to close down the middle on defense. Tsohonis will get a decent amount of time off the bench at the beginning of the season at PG.

Percy confirmed we’re petitioning the ncaa for a waiver so Quade can play immediately. Just have him say he was subject to racism at Kentucky and we should be ok.

Fingers crossed.
