What am I missing here?

If you're a REAL playoff team, that's about as good of a schedule you can ask for.

First 5 games include a gritty team used to winning (a winnable challenge w/high upside of being top25 win), aP5 road contest against mid tier opponent, you get lowly Cal and zona on the road before bye heading into Oregon that should be hosted by GameDay with both teams 5-0.

You then have 2 gimme(in theory) games of ASU and @stanford to keep it rolling (or rebound if you lose Oregon game).

That sets up the crown Jewel @SC

Handle business against the final 3 that are good but out talented and you're on your way.

Yep. Id much rather a tough stretch later in the year instead of in September where you might still be ironing out some positions and getting your reads down

Right. Feels like the PAC did us and Oregon a favor. Each have a BYE going into the game. Winner of that game is in pole position. SC plays UW then Oregon 11/4 and 11/11. SC is fucked. Finally. 100 years later.
 
I think the guys who are railing about the tuff schedule are thinking about SEC scheduling. You know, very carefully crafted scheduling of powder puff, mediocre, mediocre, powder puff, potentially skrong, powder puff, mediocre, mediocre, skrong, etc. etc. Oh, and most games at home and never leave the southeastern US, especially for "neutral site" OOC games.

I read comments and headlines about UW's "brutal" November schedule. Then I saw it. What's so brutal about that?

all in a row! That's brutal. Not USC (with likely a struggling defense), a solid Utah team and improving Beavlet. And WSU? Please.

You aren't missing anything. The 'brutal' line of thinking is glass half empty. Lotta people seem to be in on the CFP-or-bust train. If that's the case, having the last four games be high profile (potentially 3 ranked teams and a rivalry opponent) is about the best you could ask for. It also provides plenty of opportunity for Penix to make his case for at least an invite to the Heisman ceremony, and critical home games plus a road game in southern California in the leadup to the early signing period, which could be a nice recruiting benefit if the team handles its business.
 
If Big Penix Energy stays healthy this sched ain't bad and Dawgs should be in the Conf Champ gm no problem

Beat Oregon like a rented mule, win conference, win a NY6...Playoffs would be fantastic, but it isn't my expectation unless our defense improves alot

 
My only gripe is having back to back conference roadies in a year with only four road games. Which, of the many retarded things about the conference, have odd number games means a random advantage/disadvantage for teams every year.

Being scared of Beavlet is ridiculous. They had their best secondary in school history and had a wind storm last year and still lost. I don't love them having an at least decent QB but they still have no receivers. Jimmy Lake damn near won there in 2021.

Utah admittedly has kind of become the Shaw Stanford where everyone keeps saying they're going to regress and they don't, but it's fucking Utah, in Seattle and they don't have shit at RB, WR or now CB.

Good chance the Coug sucks and they have really been much more subdued in the Apple Cup as their roster has transitioned to being like 1.5% guys from in-state. Plus one of theirs whiffed tried to be a modern Ted Bundy and didn't think about DNA technology or cell phone towers.

I was going to mention the road games but from the Pac 12's pov, flying down to Palo Alto and playing a Troy Taylor rebuild job is as close to a bye as they can give us.
