You are 6'-6" tall and 270 lbs. The teacher takes away your Nintendo game boy and you proceed to beat her within an inch of her life. You go to jail and said teacher is all for it. Wants you put away for a long time.
A year goes by and you, your parents, and your greedy lawyers decide that it isn't fair to you. That it is the schools fault for letting you get away with too much when you were a student. Your real needs weren't being met which of course is the reason that you mercilessly beat a helpless female teacher.
So this is what the country has come to. WTF……..

Your response makes sense if you are a communist.
The schools aren't responsible for raising your child. The county, state and fed are not responsible for raising and taking care of your child. I know that The Bitch convinced you that the village raises kids, but she was full of shit.
The parents are responsible dipstick. Not a poor teachers assistant. At 18 years old if you don't know that playing video games in class is not permitted, functioning autism or not, your parents have done a horrible job. If at 18, functioning autism or not, you don't know that you cannot attempt to murder a woman over the video game, your parents have done a really piss poor job of being responsible for your behavior.
Why do rats shirk all personal responsibility? Do you take responsibility for anything?
The teachers aid needs to sue the shit out of the parents.

Explosive anger is a very common companion to autism. Many of us know that from personal experience. A simple internet search on the subject produces page after page of directly responsive hits. If, as the complaint alleges, the aide and the teacher chose to speak to each other about this kid's behavioral issues in his presence and in front of his class, I'd say maybe even you wouldn't have handled that very well. And I'm assuming you don't have a neurological disability—at least not a diagnosed one.

The public schools are currently tasked with educating the disabled. Whether that should be the law or not, it’s hardly a recent development. Anyone who has spent time with autistic kids growing up knows they require a certain type of handling and intervention. The school is basically being accused of ignoring multiple red flags, its legal responsibilities, and foreseeable problems until things manifested tragically. Let it play out.

Would you let this kid babysit your kids?

Would you want him in the same class as your kids?
Would you be uncomfortable with him in the same school as your kids?
How would you feel about him living in your neighborhood?

I wasn’t aware that there was a Let the Autistic Babysit! movement. In my experience, that isn’t a thing.
I wouldn’t care if he was in the same school or class as my kids. They would be very well equipped to interact with him, both by nature and personal experience.
I wouldn’t be uncomfortable to have him live in my neighborhood. I have a profoundly and similarly disabled child living in my neighborhood now. You probably do too.

Dealing with autistic kids isn’t rocket surgery. And the only issue in the matter at hand is whether the school already fulfilled its duties or should be forced to do so now. It’s before an ALJ. No apparent complaint that the kid isn’t being permitted to babysit.

we have autistic kids in our schools, neighborhoods, and communities.
None of them have almost beaten someone to death.
