We'll be podding on Saturday morning at 9AM

It was all over the place even 25 years ago. I had two friends, both white males, same basic extracurricular, one got in and one didn’t. The one that got in had a worse GPA and SAT than the one who was rejected.

I had this conversation with my roommate a million times. He had inferior grades than me and shouldn't have got in, but he did foreign exchange to Europe our senior year of high school and could speak multiple languages. UW really does buy that bullshit or at least did 16 years ago.

Transferring out of community college and entering into less popular programs is the other obvious way to get around it. Or was.

Throbber is of the baby buster era - if you could read, you could get in damned near any school in the country.

"Getting accepted" wasn't a thing unless you wanted in to West Point or Annapolis.

Maybe the TV ratings and engagement say otherwise, or that I was around younger people in 2014, but it feels like the buzz for sports in general has died way down. 2013/14 everyone was puking about the Seahawks and wearing gear and making my existence a nightmare day to day. Maybe it's because it's not the first or something but very few people seem to give a shit this year.

Debating where Sam Darnold ranks among the NFL QB's making more money than God is not interesting.

I don't know, seems like Seahawkmania is a thing right now. Hard to compare with 12 years ago, but I do see a lot of gear, flags, etc., at least in the Seattle area. (Not sure about the burbs and other NW places.)

And this town was pretty bonkers during the Mariners' run last fall.

I do sense that Huskymania is on the downslide. Has been now for a while. Even when the team is good, it isn't like it was 20-30 years ago.

SW WA and Portland/OR was all seafoam retarded in 2012-15. It's definitely dropped off.

Completely disagree about Washington. There was no purple gear down here for the special Ty/Sark years that you guys love to talk about.

Now there is a healthy amount of purple, almost more than green.

Whoever is winning is popular. The hawks were threatening season ticket holders if they put their tickets on the market for the 49ers game.

Having a schedule with a high percentage of night games as well as not being able to define game times in advance has killed out of town interest and season ticket sales from an attendance standpoint

Local kids having a hard time getting accepted because of preference for the cash flow of out of state and foreign students has diminished the tradition of we are a husky household

Lack of ability to even know who is going to be on the team is killing interest in the program

The seattle / metro league school boards have long since successfully neutered football and neighborhood identification with the local schools

Other than that, everything is a big love fest

The 6 day schedule release is brutal

As far as the podcast goes, I’d like to hear what you think is the potential of our QB corp.

Personally I think we have already seen the peak. Good stats against poor opponents and poor stats against a defense that keeps the kid in the pocket.

I was thinking that designed rollout pockets could make a difference before it became apparent that Williams isn’t particularly accurate when throwing on the run.

Clutch moment big plays also do not appear to be a strength.

If we had a dominant run game that stretched the field obviously that would make a difference but creating big pass plays out of broken plays because of superior scrambling does not appear to be a strength.

So what we really have is a short QB that can break a few broken play / designed runs, is somewhat accurate for intermediate routes accompanied by a below average running game against a good defense.

So what do you think? where does upside come from? Is there any?

More conspiracy theory hawt talk. I'm hearing Oregon payed LSU once to lure Demond away and again to send him back to UW

The twelves don’t deserve this team. It’s a team that’s bought into culture and hard work. They had their whole team show up to OTA’s which tells you something about buying into the coach and system. The 2012-2016 Hawks had an alpha male team that had a lot of characters which made it sellable on an entertainment front. This team doesn’t have that, just dudes that want to play football.
