While a policeman I worked a rotation on motors. Many funerals. Far too many. Some officers I knew. Two who were gunned down. Murdered. Processions were one of our duties. I have seen processions stretch for many miles. Actually a continuous line of police vehicles through several cities. Often interspersed with fire trucks and equipment on overpasses and the side of the road offering their support flying large American flags.
Sad work days.
