I see your point, but $5000 to each US taxpayer is a total of $7.9 billion.I don't necessarily disagree with Smerconish. $5k checks to every American when we're in massive debt is stupid.
Would anyone do this in their personal finances? You owe the bank $100k, you cut your annual spending by $10k and instead of sending all $10k to pay your personal debt down you keep $2k of it to blow on a new tv and some shoes?
It literally is wasteful spending being proposed by the body that's supposed to be targeting government waste. There is zero justification for this other than to try and smooth shit over with people who are pissed off right now.I see your point, but $5000 to each US taxpayer is a total of $7.9 billion.I don't necessarily disagree with Smerconish. $5k checks to every American when we're in massive debt is stupid.

It’s a drop in the bucket in that regard when the debt is over $36 trillion and rising.
Smerconish was one of those saying USAID is “only” $40 billion annually just a few weeks ago. You’re coming from an objective place, the CNN propagandist is not.
I’m pissed off that my wife and I owe thousands more in taxes by April 15th which apparently funds the trafficking of illegal aliens via NGO along with funding propaganda news organizations who hate me.It literally is wasteful spending being proposed by the body that's supposed to be targeting government waste. You could have made this same argument before any DOGE stuff started up. This is a basic anti-tax statement from any year in the history of this country.I’m pissed off that my wife and I owe thousands more in taxes by April 15th which apparently funds the trafficking of illegal aliens via NGO along with funding propaganda news organizations who hate me.It literally is wasteful spending being proposed by the body that's supposed to be targeting government waste. Fuck it. I was against it, but now I’m for it since you just reminded me how stupid I am to continue to fund this corruption.
It’s my money. I earned it and I pay for the salaries and retirements of the crybabies on TV who are fearful of losing their cushy federal jobs.
Would you say this if it was a Democrat handing out your tax dollars to their voters who "voted the right way"? One could argue that Dems have been doing this for a century with welfare programs that most here criticize. Pretty dangerous game you want to play here.Sometimes people need to be rewarded for voting the right way. This isn't paying down your mortgage. Your paying down the grift that voters allowed to accumulate because they were told it was going for good things and didn't really matter. So, only about 50% of the voters voted the right way in 2024 (allegedly). Give them a reward along with the sheep on the left who might realize that cutting government fraud and waste has a direct benefit to them. Oregon rebates over collected tax revenue back to the taxpayers. Makes deportation a lot more palatable if you think your getting 20% of the cost savings.
Just to be accurate, $7.9 billion divided by $5000 per taxpayer is only 1,580,000 taxpayers.I see your point, but $5000 to each US taxpayer is a total of $7.9 billion.I don't necessarily disagree with Smerconish. $5k checks to every American when we're in massive debt is stupid.

Google AI gave me that number. Regardless, it’s an amount so “small” to Democrats, by their own words on USAID’s $40 billion, that any Democrat’s opinion on the sensibility of a payment like this should be ignored.Just to be accurate, $7.9 billion divided by $5000 per taxpayer is only 1,580,000 taxpayers.I see your point, but $5000 to each US taxpayer is a total of $7.9 billion.I don't necessarily disagree with Smerconish. $5k checks to every American when we're in massive debt is stupid.

$5000 per taxpayer is probably closer to 100,000,000 taxpayers which is a total of $500 billion.
Excel.
Rather than a cash dividend, it might also be interesting to consider putting those savings into a sovereign wealth fund like structure, whereby all US taxpayers are members of the fund.Google AI gave me that number. There are valid reasons to not support this without it being political.
@BleachedAnusDawg is making one of those reasons and I agreed with him fully a few days ago.
It's actually 375 billion if if it is just taxpayers that pay.... if it's all with child credit etc and it will be thats way higher... if it is every person... we are over a trillion.I see your point, but $5000 to each US taxpayer is a total of $7.9 billion.I don't necessarily disagree with Smerconish. $5k checks to every American when we're in massive debt is stupid.
