Record-breaking gun violence continues, as Portland police report 7 shootings in 1 day

The bureau reports 837 shootings citywide through August, with the largest year-over-year increase in the North Precinct, where 383 shootings were reported by Aug. 31 — a more than 100% increase from the same period in 2020.
The Portland Police Bureau is investigating seven shootings that took place over a span of 15 hours.
From about 2 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, at least three people were injured in the shootings across the east side of the city. Police said no one was killed.
The surging gun violence has continued at an alarming pace. Earlier this month, Portland police reported nine shootings in 16 hours.
