If poverty were the cause of violent crime how do you explain the explosion in crime that started in the 60s during a period of falling poverty rates? Crime got far worse in this country as the rate in poverty declined. Track the crime rates with out of wedlock birth rates and you'll have the answer as to why crime has increased.
No moral judgments allowed. Blame "poverty". Poverty is imposed by systemic white institutional racism on POC that doesn't include Asians or Indians from India. Crime rate was super low at the height of the Great Depression in the 1930s and people were actually poor. The illegitimacy rate was also low at the height of Jim Crow. As blacks were granted equal rights crime surged as the welfare state started to pay single women to have kids.
