Close the fucking gates on the barbarian horde. Close the gates on immigration. Ship the illegals, no exceptions, back to Mexico. If they come from Uruguay they can find their way back from Tijuana. Send them packing on their burros now. They clearly smell blood with the government's talk of 'immigration reform.' The only thing we need to reform is the efficiency of the deportment process. We don't need any more fucking immigrants, legal or illegal. Build a fucking wall, and build it high. Think of how many American jobs that would create.

Assuming this isn't a whoosh I'm with you OBK (maybe not quite as militant), but unfortunately it's politically unfeasible at this point. If it were 1989 or 1990, then there would be a prayer.

It's unfortunate we live in a period where protecting your own border is politically unfeasible. We need to build a fortified, guarded wall from California to Texas. We need to consolidate our waning international power and concentrate it on the most important spheres of influence. Retaining a strong presence in Japan and the Far East (to balance the growing power of China and to keep Korea in check) as well as Eastern Europe (to deal with Putin). The Middle East is a steaming pile of camel shit. We need nothing from there but oil, and should shift our gaze from there as we develop new technology to curb our reliance on their oil. Domestically we need to curb the powers of the president and the Supreme Court. Having the nuts as a country to impeach and remove the incompetent jackass in the oval office would be a good start. He's done enough documented, illegal shit to warrant his removal.

Lot of historical illiteracy in this thread. Hint, it wasn't the lack of a big wall that caused the British, Soviets, or Chinese to lose their empires.

We could build the wall, but no American would want to do that kind of labor for federal minimum wage so they'd have to outsource the construction labor to the Mexicans.
