Lot of misunderstanding going on around this topic. People are getting hung up in the individual quotes without context. Social media, Joe, Snopes, etc. it's all retarded. It's what Trump didn't say that's the issue, and it always has been. It wasn't a difficult position to attack. I would have done better than Joe tonight. He refused to be straight up and condemn neo-Nazis and resorted to confrontational whataboutism with the media and excuses for their "side", reframing it as good people supporting a Robert E Lee statue, "both sides bad issue", shifting the overall blame for the situation, detailing the "alt left's" role while giving a largely free pass to the real instigators, building George Washington/Thomas Jefferson strawmen, and drawing equivalence. It's this shit that is unacceptable, un-American, and beyond reason. All he had to do was condemn neo-Nazis, the whole reason the situation blew up in the first place, because neo-Nazis are not welcome here. I think (?) we can all agree. We should all protest their existence and understand why that situation escalated. But... Trump chose not to, willingly. He separated himself through slick salesman language to inflame a culture war and to not alienate his white nationalist/Confederacy loving voting bloc. A true bullshit artist.
