Why is a large WA school district warning families their free meals could be impacted with National supply chain issues in their Welcome Back! Newsletter to families?

I have always said, this shit gets real the moment people go hungry living within the land of abundance... and not a moment before.
 
It’s weird how providing funding for things doesn’t make supply appear.

How much money does it cost to make a sandwich and throw in a cookie and an apple? If you can't do this, then don't have kids. Having others pay for your kids while you have a car, AC, a smartphone, and a hair stylist and weekly manicures should be an embarrassment. Had a neighbor whose kids were on the free lunch program at school. Took annual vacations to Hawaii.

If you are on food stamps, that should be enough. If you are unemployed, the one thing you have is plenty of time. Start making sandwiches. Between 1st grade and 7th grade I must have had a well over a 1000 peanut butter sandwiches for my school lunch. By the time I was 10 it was me making the lunches for my brother and me.

Maybe we should have a thing called a public school where basic concepts of citizenry are taught and that being a parent means that you are responsible for your kids. Nobody was going hungry during the 1960s, now we have Beaverton schools with large amounts of kids on the free lunch program.
 
To get back on topic, what does the school district know that isn’t being discussed in media?

If the school district can’t get apples, bread or spam, you won’t be finding those items either
 
Apples, bread and spam seem to be quite available in our stores. Milk, pop and eggs running thin. Lots of peanut butter.
