UW Couch Sales & Purchases (Portal Tracker)

Cuban jumped on board after Cigarette went 11-2 with JMU kids and he then helped buy Mendoza and Coogan. This portal cycle he cut a real big dick check, that’s why Indiana has killed it with actual on the radar talent.
Guess all these articles I'm reading are wrong then.

Regardless, Indiana had strong NIL support during Cignetti's first year. I 100% agree he's an excellent coach, but saying they didn't have any NIL money and that all of their success his first year was exclusively coaching is incorrect. https://collegefootballnetwork.com/curt-cignetti-and-nil-funding-spark-indiana-football-turnaround/

"When Indiana tapped Curt Cignetti as head coach ahead of the 2024 season, it was a gamble that paid off in spades. The anonymous Big Ten coach didn’t mince words: “They invested heavily in NIL and support. Cig [Curt Cignetti] is a fantastic coach, obviously, but he wouldn’t come without that commitment. That’s how they succeeded immediately,” they told Athlon Sports."

Maybe. I’m just looking at their portal hauls and assuming. That first year was full of Sun Belt and MAC guys. Last year they scored a few nice P4 guys. This year they aren’t loading up on MAC or Sun Belt guys. They’re paying for DUDES. Not a couple, a lot of DUDES. Seems NIL is bigger now than 2024. I’m just guessing though.

I like the DT portal guys we have gotten so far and think they will be an upgrade from last year. Watts and McClendon were good gets and both have the potential to be very good. The guy from Ball State was highly rated on PFF as well.

I like hungry guys coming up from lower level more than malcontents that did nothing at bigger schools. That said, some of those malcontents are good at their next stops. Either way it will be interesting.

People shrieking when guys enter the portal and shriek when UW brings guys in from the portal. I’ll tell you in week 5 next year if any of the new portal guys suck. My guess is the new players will help the team on a whole more than the group that left would have. Butler is the only guy that I was really sad to see go. Everyone else? Meh.
I mean this w/respect but this is such a gay post to make on a message board

"I'll tell you in week 5 if they're good" is just a different way of saying either way it'll be interesting

We don't have tim to wait and see if these guys can surprise us halfway through the season. That'd be like bringing in the 50th rated highschool class and saying give it 2 years maybe they will be good

Chinteresting. We(?) were pretty balanced in 2024 and 2025. I'm not sure he's the best pass blocker so that could have been part of the comment. IIRC, Coleman had much better blitz pick-ups.
We don't run the ball nearly enough. You hear about Cignetti and being balanced. Jedd is not. I'm not just talking about overall snaps. Go look at what he does on critical downs. When the game is in the early stages and we don't actually have to play catch-up, etc. That matters a lot as well.

You chronically underrate how good the defensive staff is and don't realize how impactful FCS transfers have been on that defense.

I'm willing to have a discussion about FCS players. Does anyone feel like looking up what the actual hit rate on them is? In my head we've had a few good ones but I'm sure there's been a ton that flame out

I should reframe and say G5/FCS.

Off the top of my head major contributors last year were McLaughlin, Alexander, Lynch, Thompson. All key pieces...3 starters and a heavily used rotational guy.

Also, Al-Uqdah was off to a solid start before getting hurt.

5 legit players on a really good defense.
