UW Couch Sales & Purchases (Portal Tracker)

Per twitter the plan is now to replace Boston with Yales slot receiver. And we may get outbid by Deboer.

Really feel like being a quarter school really fucks with UW a bit. It’s not everything but it’s something. They have to sign everyone in the first five days of the portal because any kid after that has to wait to enroll until spring. No winter facilities, no team bonding, no work with the coaches, no free strength coaches. You’re on your own until just before spring practice.

Seems like the portal was used to keep Demond and do press conferences

That may be unfair but still if you have limited time you better use it

It ends tomorrow but I don't think there is any deadline for a player in the portal already to pick a team. Basically, you can't enter the portal after the 16th (unless you are on Indiana or Miami). I think you have until the 24th if on one of those teams.

Is there another day or is this it?
Portal closes tomorrow, meaning you can't enter the portal after tomorrow, but if you're already in, you can stay in till you're dead if you want.

Fish indicated in his press conference that he expects about six more portal additions, with “about five” scheduled to visit in the next four days.

He said UW isn't getting enough NIL donor $. Something about 10 or 12 million a year is needed.

Didn't the university axe it's NIL donor company or am I confused about montlake futures?

Make Demond do 800 commercials for UW in collaboration with Costco ect. 2 a days commercial shoots

The problem with the commercials with Costco is that for that external NIL component to be paid through Costco requires Costco to feel like that money is a positive ROI to them to shell out the money

I think it's pretty clear that that's a big disconnect between UW and any Fortune 500 type of business ... they aren't going to light 7-figures on fire if they aren't getting a return on that money

Jedd has talked extensively about courting the Fortune 500 companies so where do you see the disconnect? Is it Chun, “upper campus,” or that Jedd isn’t putting a good enough product on the field?

What ROI is there for companies to pay a kid with regional name recognition millions only for the kid to leave the region after one season? That's the problem with this whole NIL thing. The actual players with true national recognition that would justify any sort of REAL endorsement deal with meaningful value don't play at UW.

Fortune 500 companies are OUT in terms of paying NIL contracts. Why would they? It only makes sense for companies like Alaska Airlines to pay guys like Rome Odunze and Michael Penix because they were guaranteed first round picks who had ALREADY CHOSEN TO STAY at UW for their final seasons. There was zero threat that they would leave.

I can't imagine more than 2 - 3 players a year actually netting a return on the NIL money they're given. I think Nike has made money off of being Oregon's daddy. Other than that, the people spending big on NIL just want to win games at any cost. UW doesn't have that mentality and will never seek out that kind of donor because they don't know how to manage people like that and don't want to give up any control.
