Because of the early specialization and proliferation of 7 on7 and camp circuits, kids are arriving to college more developed than they used to. However, they are interpreting this as being fully developed and they just want to get on the field immediately. This is how it should be. Back in the day, a Tuesday I believe, rookie qbs rode the bench until they got their reads down or qb1 got injured.
 
As a former 7-7 participant, it does very little in terms of game simulation. There simply is no substitution for a live pass rush and the field visibility is too good to be true. It's even easier if you aren't wearing helmet and pads.
 
So another day and UW not closing any business. 8 wins max next year and it turns into another 97% rebuild. 97% just because it's a mythical number accepted by 100% of democrats.
 
Maybe at some point I'll hate my time enough that I'll listen to Jedd's presser today ... but the segments I saw talked about weren't particularly reassuring about UW's outlook

There's so much wrong in college sports at the moment ...

But UW is never going to spend the money necessary to compete in a broken system where the rules are only in place if you want to play make believe

Bigger picture is that if you're going to build from HS then you need to constantly make sure that you're relationship with your players is beyond reproach and that you're constantly ensuring that those players are being paid at market rates.

To hear that Jedd was more or less blindsided by AM24 and obviously blindsided by Demond shouldn't inspire a lot of confidence

Recruiting at the HS level still probably makes the most sense for UW to obtain top talent given that it won't compete for it on the open market. IF there ever is a right-sizing of the portal reducing the freedom of movement (i.e. a single transfer) then perhaps programs that prioritize recruiting like UW may be in a position to be successful in the first years that following.

Barring that then you need A LOT to go right to be able to win at any kind of high level
