We were not lying when we said we were hearing many sources saying conflicting things. Not just sources around USC but our team talks to a lot of people from coaches to agents to families to boosters etc. I would get a text from one source saying Clay is returning and another saying Clay was fired two months ago and Urban Meyer is ready to come on board.
USC mod 2:
As I posted this evening, I'm hearing from sources within the football program that the FootballScoop report that Clay Helton will be retained by USC falls in line with what they are being told tonight. Helton will be back in the office tomorrow after being out on the road recruiting today. More to follow in this thread.
More from 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Greg Biggins: "FWIW, I've talked to a couple of recruits and their family's tonight and they echoed this, were told by staff that Helton is coming back and official announcement coming Wednesday. Don't shoot the messenger!"

Maybe, maybe not. He could get any job he wanted. Maybe he's had his time off and is ready to get back to the grind. Or maybe he's perfectly happy staying in football in some capacity and likes what I imagine is a relatively low-stress environment in the XFL. I'm betting on the latter since he hasn't even been in Dallas for a year and their season has yet to begin. If he wanted to get back into college coaching this soon I don't think he would've taken the XFL job in the first place.

I'd just like to point out that I have been a proponent of "they are going to step on their own dicks and fuck up a no brainer" for more than a year.
People forget that of all us? @UW_Doog_Bot has the highest level "inside" sources at USC. He's buds with multiple Fleenors.
I do have SC' @Sources but I doubt they are any better or worse than lots of others. What I DO have that's better than most is knowledge of the TROOJ and the ways in which they are stupid like DOOGS. I grew up down here in the midst of them, sit at family meals with them, and work with them. I literally had a TROOJ frend tell me yesterday that he would be "all in" on Jack Del Rio as the new head coach. I resisted the temptation to ask if he'd bake a pie for him.
Always have found it chinteresting @UW_Doog_Bot how you and I have nothing in common, and yet we have everything in common. That's what I love about HH.
