He didn't make that decision weeks ago. I honestly believe he made that decision the moment the doctor ruled him out. Why would ASJ be tweeting that he's playing? Why would Price be quoted as saying ASJ is playing? Why is nothing happening to Kasen?

When he was being a prick to Adam Jude he honestly had no clue what his decision was yet.
