Goldshower, I pointed out that Carroll's defenses in the NFL, both as a head coach and a DC, were better than Mora's. At USC, Carroll had great defenses almost every year. The one year you pointed out, which had nothing to do with the original argument, was pretty fucking stupid considering they were undefeated before losing to another undefeated team in the championship game. Every other defense he had from the very first season he was at USC was at least very good (top 25), most being great (top 10).

There's no shame in being a fan of Mora and thinking he has the potential to be a great coach. I don't share that opinion because I haven't seen evidence that he's better than good. If you look at Mora's overall coaching resume, nothing blows you away, especially the Falcon and Seahawk portion. When he was the Seahawk secondary coach, they were ranked really low in fact. I've had this discussion / argument a few times over the years. In fact a few of you lost it when I suggested Woodward actually negotiate with them and not throw him 9 million dollars a year.

He's done a nice job with UCLA. He's probably in the top 30% of power 5 conference coaches, maybe a little better than that. I'm a big believer in not reading too much into one game, but they have a long way to go if they want to even sniff the playoffs. I believe they have to play Texas in Austin too.
