This is very true. Alumni can provide "sponsorships" to selected athletes which includes college tuition.

Title IX (1972). . . That’s why the scholarship limit went from 120 to 105 and gradually to 85; many men’s non-revenue minor sports were eliminated; and many women’s non-revenue sports were created.

I'm still not certain that at some point Title 9 doesn't come up here

Women athletes at college can sign a NIL so it should be good unless equality of results comes into play
