I thought this was about OBK
I still can't figure out what OKG stands for.
What I really like about Petersen's recruiting philosophy is how much it resembles that of Chip Kelly in his last couple years at Oregon. He recruited specifically to his system, was very stingy with scholarship offers, would not officially offer kids until they came on a visit and met with the coaches, and let the kids know that if they chose to look around after committing their spot could be gone. I remember reading recruiting reports from kids who had offers from everywhere in the country but Oregon and they would say "I'm reaaly hoping for that Oregon offer. That's special."
Of course this was in direct contrast to Sark and his coaches giving kids marriage proposals, showing up on their doorstep woofing, and other embarrassing shit. The results of these two differing styles: the only thing more lopsided between Kelly and Sark than the scores on the field was the results of the recruiting battles between them. This was incredibly apparent in the recruiting of 5* OT Arik Armstead. Tosh and Sark put up some fucking 3-ring circus light show for him and his family, made some special uniform for him, and talked shit about all the other schools he was considering. Chip and staff played it straight and said "look, we have something special going on, we're not gonna talk about other programs or blow smoke up your ass. We win, we're selective, and we want you to play for us" Guess who he picked.
If Pete gets shit done on the field, his OKG recruiting that all the morons are whining about will be a huge asset to the future of UW football
