That being said, Nevada gave up 210 ypg last year on the ground at 5.1 ypc. Credit Mora for running down their throat like he did against Arizona last year.

I realize the man-crush that some people have on Mora. I like him, but I'm not there yet. His team won 9 games last season, but then lost its last three games and got crushed by baylor.
If we get overly excited about Mora after ucla's win vs. nevada, aren't we just a bad as the "doogs" that get overly excited after one of Sark's wins (i.e., against a depleted boise state team, for instance)?

Yep, there is a double standard here sometimes when it comes to Mora. They had a good season last year but they played perhaps the easiest schedule in the conference. Their defense was mediocre and they were led by their offense. In fact their defense was bad against several bad teams whereas Wilcox' defense was solid against the bad teams (ex-WSU 4q). Mora is definitely a good coach but he won't be great unless he can build a defense like Wilcox has already done. Lets see how that plays out. In any event, I'd take Mora in a second over Sark.

It was his first fucking year. There is no double standard. Hire him when we said and there is no 0-12 and no on the job training for loser boy that you still hope will be good in year 5 if he fires more assistants.
And Mora would have won 9 games with the 2009 Huskies.
Stalking with a birthday cake pretty much sealed the deal on that one. If only it had been a pie .....
As for the OP, we all know the reason UCLA has a ground game ... it starts up front.

He has one year of work, which overall was a good year, but had some dim moments. Why is it crazy to want to see an improved defense and more success before crowning him? He looks like a very good coach, but he is still unproven, and like I have noted before, his defenses were not very good in the NFL.
Just because Carroll was a failed NFL coach who did great in college, doesn't mean Mora will follow the same path. Dave Wandstett and Al Groh were defensive coaches who didn't do great I'm college.
The way Mora is recruiting, he should do very well, but recruiting success does not always equal dominance on the field. I like Mora, wish we hired him in 2007, think he would be a great candidate if/when Sark gets fired/leaves, but I also agree with Passion, you guys are fanboys of him like doogs are of Sark. Everything that he does well is cheered and every failure is a "yeah, but still."
He beat a Nevada team with a first year head coach. He's got a tough schedule this year and a young team. If he can win 9 again this year, the lavish praise will make more sense.
His recruiting alone is reason to crown his ass, unlike the doogs who continue to say Sark is a great recruiter and blame Coz for his failure along the lines. Watching him up close here its clear he is who we said he was. Sark has never been nor will he ever be who the doogs say he is.
Had Sark come here and won 9 games and lit up the O line and defense recruiting this site doesn't exist.
Oh but Mora had Hundley. And Sark had Lockner. UCLA will win at least 9 this year.
There are very few great coaches. Most are somewhere between Ty and Sark and you have to churn them until you find a great one. Is Mora great? We'll see, he's on the high end of the middle coming in and off one year.
Doogs that are still waiting after 12 years to see some shithead get his own guys in and want to implode Mora after one season are the dumbshits here.
I have eyes and an opinion that is better than 99% of all people in the world. I'm all in on Mora and have been since 2007 when we should have hired him.

Couldn't agree more with this.
The doog hate for Mora is ridiculous and saying he could implode is really fucking stupid. He is definitely building a program the right way. The next 2-3 years will show if he is a great coach or merely a good one. To expect him to implode is as dumb as expecting Sark to win a national championship.
