I'm guessing Tui is not a bright light in the coaching ranks.

Some doods are players; some are coaches; relatively few are both.

He walked into a situation where he had the #1 high school qb in the country dropped into his lap and the kid has so far been a major pussy.

I can't hold UCLA against anybody. It's become a place where coaching careers go to die.

Tons of resources, the easiest recruiting sale job there is, bar none, and the place is cursed.

There is no rational reason why USC is so fucking good at football and UCLA is so mediocre. It just works out that way. I'd rather be in Westwood than South Central any day of the week - though the area immediately around SC is not as shitty as it once was.
 
As much as I like Tui and wish him well, he is running out of time. The Cal job may be his last chance to establish himself as an "up-and-coming" assistant with HC potential versus being a Phil Snow-like journeyman assistant.

He only coached him this year when he got hurt. Rosen is a huge cunt too. I give Tui a pass. Rich Jewish kids aren't typically football players.

He gets a lot of shit but he's stuck around as a coach in the PAC 12 for awhile.
