TSIO who stays, who declares and who Portals: Discussion

Cook was my “hey wait this guy is good? player for ‘21

Agreed. Glad he’s coming back. He showed a lot of heart and effort and improved from 2020. Hopefully one more year and his development as a safety keeps improving. He doesn’t hesitate and gives 100%, I’m optimistic his play improves and he played well next year.

A safety that tries to tackle. Imagine that.

A former WR being the best tackling safety says a lot about the DB coaching

Pretty incredible that Lake had us all fooled into thinking he was a good coach playing essentially prevent defense all game not giving a shit about run defense

Hampton hits as well but they insist on letting asa roam the 30 yard prevent role. I don’t get it.

Smalls enter the portal?

I’d like to see him develop one more year but so far he has been awful

Yep, would like to see how he does under a new HC. I think ZTF, Trice, McDonald, and Smalls will make a good OLB rotation in 2022.

As for Huard, I'd stick around whether Haener comes in or not. DeBoer's offense is a really good fit for him.

Could we suddenly senior[/s] sophomore Asa?

Here is a mock draft that has Trent McDuffie going round 1.

This is pre combine. Once Gordon shines he will move ahead

Do people here really think Giles Jackson is a damn good returner?

He showed flashes of being very good and very shitty, and e erythung in between. Toward the end he was getting better and better.

I'll give you that but I thought he had a terrible feel for running lanes and wasn't as explosive as I thought he'd be.

I don't think Gordon will outshine McDuffie in the underwear olympics. I think McDuffie will prove faster (40), stronger, and have similar quickness. Gordon will outjump him by a bit. They will both look great in DB drills. In the end I think McDuffie will go first because he has more good game tape in coverage.

Disagree, reports of Gordon being stronger and faster. McDuffie is a baller, but Gordon is an amazing athlete with amazing hips

Reports from where? Message board posters?

I don't buy it. Gordon is an amazing athlete but a bit overhyped. McDuffie is an amazing athlete who is so good technically that nobody pays attention to his superior athletic ability. Personally I think they're a little different but about equal in nearly every aspect.

ZTF coming back 99% chance unless he gets 3rd round grade. Needs to develop more pass rush skill
More pass rushers this year
Don’t twist

24) Kyler Gordon, CB, Washington

“We have a new entry into our 2022 NFL Draft Big Board, and a new contender at the top of the cornerback class. Washington’s pass defense is the best in the nation this season, allowing just 142.9 yards per game. Furthermore, they’ve allowed 1 less passing touchdown this year than the Georgia defense earning national recognition.

Kyler Gordon is one of the big reasons why. At 6’0″ and 200 pounds, he has decent size at the position. He’s incredibly athletic, possesses impressive ball skills, and his physicality is apparent on every snap. While his teammate earned more recognition coming into the season, Gordon has the upside to enter the draft as a prospect with more upside.“
This will be Interesting when the nfl scouts turn on the film to see these lock down corners that had safeties over the top of them every play and very rarely were tested.

This is part of the reason why most all Pete era DBs get first round pub and then after film study get taken in the second/third round.

One exception, Buddha had first round tape. But the morons at nfl thought peepers was a better prospect.

Dude pretty sure Gordon had better test numbers during the last underwear olympics but McDuffie’s tape does not lie.
