Would be great if there were enough transplanted hearts for the immunocompromised at severe risk of rejection, as well as the deserving. That way we could just try it out and not have to pick favorites. What's the worst that could happen when you're gonna die anyway?
Big Ern is an organ donor.
Are you?
Wouldn't it be great if the vaccine didn't cause myocarditis in young people?
Upwards of 25% of heart transplant recipients who contract The Vid die.
The risk is real for any virus or immune system shock. Only 20% of heart transplant recipients live beyond 20 years. It's not ACL surgery. These are freakshows of medical science. There's 3000 annually in the United States, 0.05% of all organ transplants. It's hard.
Hospitals, including this one, follow NIH policy, to give the limited amount of eligible hearts out there to the people with the highest chances of success. It's savage, but that's how it is. Without rules, we are animals. If you can't accept a flu shot for your own safety and organ market efficiency, you probably don't deserve a new lease on life. Someone else does.
