This is also a no win situation for Russia at this point. The best they're gonna get is a pyrrhic victory in capturing some oblasts in exchange for over a million dead, cold war stockpiles depleted, and permanent damage to basically all their strategic defenses.
And they are likely pushing the pedal to the metal on demographic collapse.
