That right there is Trump's mojo, yes? Attack, affix opponents with ridicule branding, etc.

Everything is a situation unto itself, with context. I don't understand what he's doing there with DeSantis.

When Reagan got attacked, he'd have that sparkle in his eye and the shrug, "there you again."

When Trump 2016-2019 got attacked, he'd give the proverbial wink and go on the attack, often with hilarious and effective results. IMO he's got to let go of the resentment from 2020 and get that old feeling back, if its possible. I believe he will, but we shall see.

I think DeSantis is a much different opponent. He's very polished but not so much that he comes off as robotic or phony like a Ted Cruz. He also has a very strong public support base, that no other Republican Trump opponent has had. I think DeSantis has a much better shot in a general than Trump at this point, and that will make a huge difference in the primaries. It also seems that the left is also much more scared of DeSantis than they are of Trump, and that speaks volumes.
