I never said Shaw was a candidate. Just that his name was being tossed around early.
But to answer your snide question it was before. I outlined as much in the weeks leading up to Deboer leaving.

to be fair, all Softy said was Dannen turned off a lot of boosters by saying he has no time for DEI. Not, DEI was making the job more difficult.
Half of the problem with all the DEI nonsense is the time suck of it all. Resources that could go to something with an ROI are lost.

I heard Vector Marketing Factoria branch can spin it.
His introductory press conference with Fisch was VERY odd and made me suspect of the guy, but I figured that how the DeBoer shit went down just made me bitter and suspect of everything at that point.
He was wearing an ill-fitting suit and focused on Fisch's wife. Even after his initial comments about making Fisch's wife the "First Lady of Husky Football" went over like a lead balloon, he doubled down and stared at her while making the same joke a second time. Not necessarily in a creepy sense, but in the sense that he thought he had a funny joke and since no one got it he better tell it a second time.
He seemed to have no feel for the room, nor did I get the sense that he understood that the football program was in full panic mode. In that moment, selling the cred for the new football coach was FAR more important than leading the presser with a goofy comment about the new coach's wife. (Regardless of how hot she is).

After a day of reading about this, I've come to 3 conclusions.
1- it's a bad look for UW
2- The biggest reason Dannen left seems to be that Nebraska was willing to DOUBLE his fucking salary (and he's closer to home)
3- No one in the UW athletic dept circles is sad to see this guy go and many have said he truly sucked behind the scenes and UW is averting a major disaster down the line by losing him.
