It's sad that with a team with Wroten, Wilcox and Ross that Gaddy led that fucking team in minutes played.

Yet all the Doogs were defending Gaddy and making it seem like Wroten was holding our team back.

Wroten was terrible that year. Walking turnover who played no defense. He was incredible against elite competition (Duke, UA) and worthless against everyone else.

I wanted him to come back because other than Venoy every headcase we've had under Romar has matured, but I've never seen anyone less interested in playing defense than freshman Tony Wroten. Add in he was almost as good at drawing fouls as he was at missing free throws and He deserved every ounce of criticism he received.

The Pac-12 was a fucking dreckfest that year. Wroten was despite his flaws the 3rd or fourth best player in the conference that year.

He was pretty good for UW, his assist totals would have been a lot better if Aziz could actually finish.

I don't think anyone would say he wasn't frustrating. The best players play, and Wroten was surely one of the best players. At times, he was our best player. Did you consult with BFallenB before your posts?

Jensen and Gaddy never had a tenth of Wroten's talent, but they at least attempted to do something when they were on the court.

Wroten was fantastic when he felt like the game warranted his effort. He'll probably be pretty damn good in the NBA.

He was a disaster his frosh year. His true shooting percentage was unfathomably bad, he had more turnovers than assists as an alleged point guard, he was the worst defensive player I've ever seen not named Martin Breunig. The only reason he got all conference is because he had nice point totals.

I don't think anyone would say he wasn't frustrating. The best players play, and Wroten was surely one of the best players. At times, he was our best player. Did you consult with BFallenB before your posts?

I don't remember anything about bfallenb but if he hated Wroten's play at UW, he had something right.

I agree he was our best player in flashes, but he was our worst player far more often than not. He wouldn't have played 30 minutes a game if I was coaching, that's for sure.

Gaddy led the team in minutes two years ago despite not doing much. He wasn't athletic, couldn't shoot which is a bad combo for a guard.

Wroten although frustrating would make great plays. Gaddy never once had that "moment" where I was glad he was playing for UW. While Wroten had several of those.

DNC, you are making me re-think it a little bit, but I still don't agree. That team was going nowhere without Wroten. He was the only guy that was able to get past his man off the dribble which is basically the key to Romar's offense (at least back then.)

Wroten was lazy on defense, but all of the perimeter guys were pretty bad. Gaddy was too slow, Ross took plays off on D as well, Wilcox was decent, but injuries hampered him. Wroten should have gotten more out of his talent, but I think that is more on Romar. He was too good not to play 30 minutes.

We didn't make the tourney because we lost to Oregon State, and Wroten missed FT's down the stretch. Still, he had 29 points. Fans had a sour taste because his FT's cost us those games, and he sucked during the NIT, especially in the loss to Minnesota.

Wroten was #1 in his class before the ACL injury. Gaddy might have had a lower number next to his name but Wroten was a much bigger name guy. And setting rankings aside, it's obvious Wroten had talent Gaddy can't even dream of.

Jensen cost us an Elite 8, caused allpurpleallgold to *poof* from the boreds and opened the troll door for Whiskey to introduce me to lemonparty all within about an hour of that loss. I should probably hate Jensen even more than I do.

I agree Wroten had several moments where I loved him. He had a lot more where I hated him. Gaddy was mostly invisible.

Had Thomas came back we would all have a much better memory of Tony Wroten.

Wroten I'll say this lacked maturity and that team was actually young. So therefore Wroten was put in a position to be the "guy" which he wasn't ready for.

I do think how most of our fan base treated him was piss poor though.

That reminds me of my favorite CFetters flip flop of all time. Before the P12 tournament: "UW is a tournament lock, doesn't matter what happens from here, UW is in"

After losing in the P12 tournament: "UW will not be in the tournament, they don't deserve it."

He was right the second time, of course, so at least he was smarter than spado. But when called out for saying UW was a lock before the game he just kept falling back on how now they don't deserve it. He would never just say "I was wrong, I shouldn't have said they were a lock."

I don't understand why it's so hard for KG, CF and SE (a Q!) to just say "I screwed up, sorry about that."

I would say the real reason was shitty big men and losses to Nevada and South Dakota State, a game Wroten was our best player and Ross scored 6.

I would say the real reason was shitty big men, Wilcox missing a key stretch during Pac 12 play, and losses to Nevada and South Dakota State, a game Wroten was our best player and Ross scored 6.

Certainly there were multiple reasons, but Wroten's FT shooting was as big as any of them.
