Looked it up. You are correct, 2 years as a backup QB and 2 years as a WR. I have zero recollection of him as a QB whatsoever. Randle-El was a full time QB at Indiana before playing WR in the NFL and that’s why I thought of him first. He’s as big as Bolden so that’s probably a better physical comp.
Boldin was a WR. Basically it was a Jerramy Stevens situation where the team used the QB position as a carrot in recruiting, but was never seriously considering the position as they saw star player elsewhere. I think it was the first day in full pads at Florida State his freshman year that they moved Boldin to WR “for a few snaps” and the rest is history. Truth was it was their plan all along, similar to Dick Baird and Stevens.
