Every Eastern QB has put up big numbers under Baldwin. Adams is pretty good, but how good?
Playing well against two middle to bott tier PAC 12 teams is a lot different than doing it for 9 games. Not to mention, he will be in a new offense. Until he proves himself, way too much is being made of this.

I can’t remember a guy at Husky Stadium throw more perfect TD passes than Vernon Adams did. And I’ve seen everyone play there.

Adams was dropping dimes. No question about it. He also should have thrown at least two picks. There was very little pressure on him all game and Kikaha dropped into coverage more in that game than any other. The DB's were a disaster for UW early in the year.
He played for Eastern. I think he can play, but I also bet Taylor Kelly and Sean Mannion would put up great numbers at Eastern too. He could be really good or he could be an average PAC 12 QB. LIPO.

Exactly. Potoae is from Seattle. Vernon Adams is from Pasadena.
He most likely has no pull to play in Seattle for a team with less potential in 2015 than the ducks or his hometown Broons.

UW's OL may not be that bad next year (taking a step back at LT but Charles is back at LG, Tufunga could be an upgrade at RG, and since Riva missed the whole year, Shelton should be an improvement at RT) but we don't have the skill guys at WR to be appealing to Adams as a 1 year rental. Plus, let's be honest, so many stars would have to align for us to win the Pac-12 North in 2015 so it would be ideal to figure out the longterm solution to the QB position in KJCS or Browning so that we enter 2016 with a clear leader.
If I was VA, I'd go home and play for UCLA. I believe they return all of their OL (Oregon loses 3 starters) and all of their skill guys. Neil Mazzone also has experience tailoring his offense towards more pure passers (Rudy Carpenter at ASU and, for a game, Jerry Neuheisel in 2014) while Oregon's offense is predicated on a running QB. Adams already missed 4 games with a foot injury in 2014 so that combined with a relatively small build doesn't lend itself strongly to a spread-option attack (Paul Johnson's offense would be the absolute worst for him).

UCLA actually returns all 10 starters on offense, including all their WRs and the defending conference rushing champ. Plus the #1 HS RB, the #1 HS TE (a true TE type), and a high level JC OT they beat Ohio State out for. I think with the right QB, UCLAs offense should be very very good. Also the hometown factor playing in Pasadena.
At UCLA he really only has to beat out a true freshmen, although he is the consensus #1QB prospect in the country and will participate in spring (like JB will at UW). At Oregon, they have two QBs with more experience but neither is on Rosen's level as a prospect.
I could see VA go either way. Probably comes down to which one he sees as a less risky path to start. I'm not sure how to diagnose Oregon's QB situation.

So if you don't have QBs in your program that are able to step up when a departed starter leaves, then explain to me again how I'm wrong that Oregon's struggled to develop a QB that is ready to take the ball and run with it?
If Rodrigues was worth a shit, he'd have stayed at Oregon and been in a position to compete for the job this coming year.

Mariota was expected to leave for the draft after last season. Bennett lost the QB competition to Mariota, and went somewhere he could play - which worked out for him, and he played in the Senior Bowl this year and is expected to get a shot at the NFL. Rodrigues was hoping to compete for a starting gig after Mariota left, but Mariota stayed a year longer than anyone expected and Rodrigues took longer to come back from injury than expected, so Rodrigues transferred to SDSU.
No matter what you think of Helfrich as a head coach, you know he is a good QB coach. Vernon Adams is perfect because he gives the guys in the program a year to mature as they are, for the most part, a year away.
The last time Oregon was screwed at the QB position, it was 2007 and we were playing our 5th string guy. Prior to that, I can't think of the last time that QB was a weakness. So I'm not super worried.
