Most if not all of the blue hairs that keep bitching about all this, if I ask them who Quinton Pounds is or some other random player from ~5 years ago when we were built for life and bleeding purple, they would have no fucking clue who I was even talking about.

I guarantee most sport fans would be turned off from following their team if they had no idea who any of the players are even after following the team religiously for years. There's no connection anymore and yeah ok great win games that'd be awesome but if you just took the entire roster from Indiana and put them in purple would that feel as good as the 2016 team where you saw the growth?

The days of high school kids in Washington choosing UW just because they're in state are gone. Long gone, like going back to pre-Sark. They've been gone for the California schools. There's probably some regional loyalty but Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, etc are all going after each other's kids. West coast schools are going after those kids.
LDS kids in Utah are heading elsewhere and aren't loyal to 2% land.
Koa heaven is apparently in fucking Eugene now.
So then what the fuck is the bitching about? Having to google some kid's background? What the actual soft fuck?
 
I know coaches begging for money is just part of the game now and I think Jedd is pretty much doing what he can do across the board. I also know you have to walk a fine line of where you can talk big and where you have to make excuses.
I get it's the you gotta do what you gotta do now and you can't Make College Football Great Again but there's no getting around losing the things that drew me to the game beyond just that it was handed down through generations in my family.
  1. Lacking local players and other teams lacking local players
  2. Watching players develop through the programs
  3. Not feeling hopeless in a caste system where oh well we can't pay as much as them so we have no chance in recruiting and program talent
I'll roll with it for now but now also passing the buck to fans who are already expected to pay to go to the games and all the logistics of that and pay for overpriced TV services to watch games is difficult.
 
I agree and have said that purely passing the buck to fans as a copout to not having to slim down athletic budgets and cut beach volleyball in fucking Seattle is borderline insulting. I'm not waving pom poms for UW.
And not everyone can and should fork over a bunch of money.
A guy who buys some 15$ secondary market ticket and buys an NIL beer has just as much say as anyone else.
Again, when we had players develop through the program, a ton of the complainers can name like…Jake Browning. Locker. That's about it.
Was at the doctors last week and this old couple saw my jacket and asked if I went to UW. Said they graduated in 1970. Of course, they didn't go to any games last year, only watch on TV, and look like they have plenty of money. When a fucking colonoscopy is more appealing than listening to blue hair fucks like this then it's time to tune out a large % of the fanbase at this point.

That is such a cop out. Professional sports are doing it so it's ok for college to do it is retarded logic for people that think of CFB as a training grounds for the NFL when the reality is only a small fraction get a sniff. The schools being greedy is what's making it suck and the fact that you're just ok cheering for the random roster generator tells me you're out of touch or too depressed to acknowledge reality.

I'd be fine with going back to the Pac 10, except that SC resembles UCLA now so we would still be out a blue blood.
I'm 100% in favor of showing the parents the cost of going to UW and subtracting that from whatever NIL they want. A few players per team should get to do Dicks commercials or something and that should be it.
I'm neutral on the old roster system vs this one. High school football being beyond fucked is what ruined the state pride thing. My school just lost the state championship and I don't give a shit. It is what it is, Covid put the final nail in it. Bellevue beating LaSalle 20 years ago was the peak.
I'm just tired of the zero skin in the game, "I'm done with CFB" shit and then people come back to bitch and cry the same tears over and over. It's exhausting. Let's go put a team together and get REVENGE in this shitty new conference and put this mini death penalty season behind us. If not, they should go do something else.
Our coach did fuck up by hiring little Stevie and losing to fucking coug and not at least getting us to the Gronk butt plug LA bowl.
That's my peace on all of it for awhile.
