What also spurred the boom was Reagan ending the Excess Oil Profit Tax and oil price controls so capital flooded into the industry. Of course the dems screamed that it was a giveaway to the oil industry because dems do not understand the supply side thing at all. Never have, never will. There were 3 oil shocks in the 70s
When I got my first car we could scrap up a dollar and get 3 or 4 gallons. Didn't know what gas mileage was
73 the peaceful Muslims tried to wipe Israel off the map again and OPEC cut supply to the west
Let me know when we go to odd and even days to sit in a gas line again
It did spur the domestic energy boom of the 80s
Very much so.Is it cost prohibitive to move the oil by train to the other side of the strait?
Moreso, however, it's just not physically possible. 20% of the world's oil moves through the Strait. Over 100 tankers a day normally. AI tells me one tanker equals 1200 rail tank cars. So at least 120,000 rail tank cars of oil a day would be needed to match a normal day of tanker transport. Yeah.Is it cost prohibitive to move the oil by train to the other side of the strait?
Don't want enemies having control or charging tollsTrump is on video since the 80s wanting to get Iran
Israel is a good ally unlike the Euro trash
Do you want it open or not?
It would take a lot of trains... easy targets... an underground pipeline would be betterIs it cost prohibitive to move the oil by train to the other side of the strait?
Good lord what a storyTo put things in further perspective, in the early 70's when we had a real crisis with gas shortages, my mother would drop me off with our car at the gas station. She would then hop on the bus and it would take her to work. I would stay in the car for hours and move it up as car after car would get gas. I was about 11 years old. Once I got gas I would park the car in downtown Beaverton near the gas station, ride my bike home and she would get back off the bus after work and drive the car home.
