I think it's good for the game to adapt more NFL rules. The idea it almost completely eliminates the play-action like Freeze suggests is so FS considering all the NFL is predicated on is Play-Action.
What happens if an OL pancakes a guy on a PA pass? The fall alone will put him beyond the 1 yard mark. Just something I thought about as i'm not sure how that is currently enforced in the NFL, but pancakes are much more frequent in the college game.

Think about the shit QB play in the NFL overall right now. I bet you the owners are lobbying for these rule changes to gain better evaluations before they draft a guy in the top 10 for millions.
There are maybe 10 franchise QBs in the league, and half of them are dying. It's good for the game of football for a little standardization. Also, all I really care about are Washington wins and I see this change only harming the spread heavy programs, which we clearly are not.

Seriously though, if people can't see that college officiating just sucks and all they need to do is train better refs then I can't help them. The coaches quoted in that article (I only skimmed it) seemed to all make that point and I agree with it. Enforce the fucking rules and worry less about changing them.

There's certainly an argument for taking a more gradual approach but I've found the NFL significantly more watchable in large part due to their rule. With the NCAA rule allowing OL to go down field with abandon (3x more than the NFL even if they do enforce it), it's having an impact on the watchability of games. A guy was just talking with me about this last night...he still enjoys watching the random NFL game but never watches the random CFB game now and that's mostly happened to me too. I'm more of a football junkie than he is but I noticed myself mostly doing the same.
He also argued that NFL GM's should push for a rule change as well because it has recently made it harder to project players to the next level which leads to more draft busts.

The three yards has been stretched to five, which has been stretched to even further downfield.
If any of you fucktards have access to the Fight Hunger bowl game UW played in 2013 vs BYU, watch it...BYU has OL downfield nearly as far as their WRs.
The officials are flat out not enforcing the rule.

I think they need to reign this in. In 2015, make it a point of emphasis. Just like they did with illegal hands to the face this past year.
Then in 2016, adopt the NFL rule of allowing one yard. Continue the emphasis.

I do agree with the sentiment that the concessions given to offenses are out of control: linemen too far downfield, WAY too many picks in the short passing game, too much blocking before the ball is even thrown on WR screens, and way too much fucking holding. Pass interference is called too often. I'm just saying that half of these problems wouldn't be real problems if the refs would just call the fucking game according to the rules as written.
I enjoy the idea of a TD meaning something. It used to be a player earned one, now it is given and that feels cheap to me.
Growing up as a card collector and stat geek i'd like to see some goddamn standardization with the stats. I don't even know what a good season is anymore it's so out of whack.
