Shelton did rack up a bunch of yards when Pickett went down. 6 carries for 133 yards and 3 touches. That was a baffling game. Seems kind of cruel if you ask me.
UW AD: "Hey, we haven't beaten the Ducks since you were our QB back in ought-three... can you come back to Husky Stadium and rub some of your Duck-beating victory essence on us so that we can appease the juju gods into maybe giving us a win despite the very long odds Vegas is pushing?"
Paus: "um, okay"
(Pregame hoopla ensues)
(Game starts, everyone starts reading off the script, Ducks win by at least 21)
Paus leaves the stadium, postgame:

Looking back, could it be that the two consecutive 42-to-something Husky wins over UO in '02 and '03 were some kind of karma busting set-up for the soon to be consummated tenth year of ducks avoiding the start of a new losing streak? Or is it mere coincidence that UW football as it was once known was purposely put to sleep exactly ten years ago. Wherever your streak ends, duck football can never receive more than partial credit for it's duration.
