The Strategic Petroleum Reserve is 1/3 Empty

Did the democrats kill the bill that would have refilled it?

Come on fact boy fill us in
It bottomed at ~350 in 2023, Biden raised it to ~375 by the time he left. Trump raised it to ~415 (58%) during his term. Now he's taking 172 out of it. So now we'll be at ~240, lower than any point in Biden's term by far.

Biden could have filled it more than he did, but who has had power since January 2025?

It's a yes or no question

Biden dumped it for the midterms

The democrats killed the funds to refill it in the BBB at far less cost than today

So the answer is yes the democrats killed refilling it

Fact boy

Already had it straight from the VP of our company. Domestic supply is adequate to continue US refining for US consumption. Can't speak to the Chinese, good luck the rest of the way!

Oh right, and we are now refining Venezuelan crude.

Meanwhile, Newscum is still trying to close as many California refineries as possible.

It was never empty you fucking donkey. It's lowest level was about half full. Neither Biden nor Trump have done a good job refilling it.
  • he 2022 Release: In March 2022, President Biden announced a release of 180 million barrels over six months, the largest in the reserve's history.
  • Total Amount Released: Including the 2022 releases and other actions, the Biden administration has removed roughly 260-290 million barrels from the reserve between January 2021 and mid-2023.
  • Impact on Reserves: The SPR held approximately 638 million barrels when President Biden took office in January 2021. By summer 2023, this number had fallen to around 347-351 million barrels, a 40-year low.
  • Reasons for Release: The administration stated the releases were necessary to manage supply shortages and lower gas prices caused by the war in Ukraine.
  • Replenishment Efforts: Starting in late 2022 and continuing into 2024, the Department of Energy began repurchasing oil to refill the reserve, but the total amount remains well below pre-2021 levels

Fuck off he drained the majority of it to help reduce gas prices.

Biden used the SPR due to supply shortages caused by COVID and the Ukraine War. Yes, to stabilize gas prices. No shit. That's what it's used for in emergencies. That's what we're doing now.

The point is that neither Biden nor Trump have refilled it enough, despite ample opportunities.

And it was never empty, donkey.

Donny Queens had his chance to fill at fairly low prices throughout 2025. He didn't.

If we're gonna say (wrongly) that Biden used the SPR for electoral reasons in the 2022 midterms, couldn't we say Trump is doing the same fucking thing right now for the 2026 midterms? Yes. Yes, we could. But we're not retards. Or are we?
