The Pick Is 20

You know what, I'm going to miss the ego driven Oregon fanatics once Pete take total and commanding control of the PAC 12 North. I doubt the end will come next Saturday, but A year from now the suicide watch south of Olympia begins. I suggest the Oregon fans save a digital copy of that video, it's one of the last orgasms you are going to get.

The Red Guard re-printed Ron Bellamy's 1994 column about the play that invented college football:

Editor’s note: This story, by former Register-Guard sports editor and columnist Ron Bellamy, was originally published on Sunday, Dec. 11, 1994.

“Here we go, 1:05 remaining, first and goal from the 8 yard line.
“Huard, with Kaufman behind him now. Will he get the ball? Huard, going to go back to throw the ball. Sets up, looks, throws toward the corner of the end zone, it is INTERCEPTED!
“INTERCEPTED! THE DUCKS HAVE THE BALL1 DOWN TO THE 35, THE 40. KENNY WHEATON IS GONNA SCORE! KENNY WHEATON IS GONNA SCORE!
“TOUCHDOWN! TOUCHDOWN! KENNY WHEATON ON THE INTERCEPTIONNNNN! THE MOST IMPROBABLE FINISH OF A FOOTBALL GAME. …”
— Broadcaster Jerry Allen, on the Oregon Sports Network, Oct. 22, 1994.

It's a good read. I got all misty. This is the single coolest sports event that I was actually in the stadium for.

Edit nummer too: a fun thing about that picture is that you can see the beginning of the UW visitor section in the far right of the frame. They don't look happy

Congratulations. By beating Damon F. Huard and Jim F. Lambright, you earned the right to get bent over by Jerry Sandusky in the Rose Bowl.

That was coach Pete's first year as an Oregon coach right? (WRs).

This year is his first year with us.

If I knew that college football was going to be invented that day, I would have put orange juice and vodka in my boda bag instead of orange juice and Everclear.
