The Mount Rushmore of Husky Quarterbacks

I believe Moon wasn't even that good at UW? I would think one of the old timey guys like Heinrich,Schloredt or Elmer Logg would make more sense.

He was a Rose Bowl MVP and co-Pac 8 player of the year. Those are honors that used to matter quite a lot around here. But, yes, his NFL resume invokes bias as it often tends to do. The next two didn't really have pro careers to speak of and the jury is out on the next guy in that regard. I think if Penix does not wind up with an illustrious career, his star will fade here and the next guy who does an AI Rushmore in, say, 20 years, will not put him on it.

Billie Jo Hobert went 12-0 and has a natty and we've had other guys who were productive in the NFL. Right now I'd leave Penix on but w/o a natty and undefeated he needs to invoke some of that NFL "make us proud" bias. So far, not so good. Time will tell.

My Rushmore wants to make room for one of Chris Chandler, Mark Brunell, or Steve Pelluer but it probably makes sense that Tui and Six squeeze them out.

I knew the Rose Bowl MVP but didn't know the conference player of the year stuff. I knew he had a great run in 77, especially as the season went on.

The other thing is that that Rose Bowl was kind of a big deal. Not a run of the mill Rose. Michigan was, I believe, pretty heavily favored (ranked T5 or whatever) and we? absolutely jumped on them but they wound up making a comeback. Don't remember if any part of the comeback was in garbage time to make it more cosmetically pleasing for them or if it actually got gamey but whatever we? beat them when they were like two-TD favorites. When I was a wee lad, everybody had the poster of Warren Moon in Husky Stadium kneeling down next to the Husky mascot in their room. Everybody.
