The Knowledge’s 🏀 UW hoops mega thread

It’s basically preseason and 85% new players and they will take time to jell. Last year they lose this game and the experience and OT will likely help them grow as a team.
The problem with college hoops is that 85% of players are new every year now and nobody knows who's on the team from year to year. I don't know anyone who actually watches college hoops anymore.

I watch the Huskies all season and will watch random CBB after CFB is done and the pickings slim out a bit. Conference tournaments and the NCAAs are a must. Lots of good basketball to watch then.

This was a game they lose last year. Down 12 it felt like past iterations of husky hoops, going through the motions, losing to a shitty team. Really missed Steinbachs rebounding last night. Agree re offensive flow, but this team feels far from cohesive. It was good to see them pull it off.

What's the deal with the Yates guy? He had both the nicest handles and absolute butterfingers on alternating possessions

As far as my eyes can tell Yates and Diallo both dribble really high when the drive to the basket. Whether it’s a straight slash to the hoop or they are attempting to back someone down to the block, the ball often gets slapped away or the double comes and they don’t pass the ball out fast enough. I was hoping Zoom might have solved this in the offseason. It’s still early. Claude on the other hand is one smooth customer. He just looks different with the ball I his hands. Looking forward to him and Hannes playing a beautiful game together.

Last night was brutal. Zero offensive flow, so many defensive lapses. Looking disinterested and lazy at times. Very frustrating. That said, down two projected starters and Bryson Tucker who brings elite athleticism and pretty good effort and Diallo who fouled out in only 16 minutes, these dawgs didn’t lie down and roll over. They fought back from 12 down in the second half to force overtime. Claude was only supposed to play 20 minutes, he played 33 and was fantastic as he fought through cramps. Peterson played 50 MINUTES!! Went coast to coast to force the second overtime after the game seemed all but over just 90 seconds before his game tying basket. Give the boys credit for fighting through injuries and apathy. None of the teams outside of maybe 2017 fight back to win last night. This MASH unit did. Say what you want about the opponent, this was a gritty, gutsy win.
No offensive flow is what I saw in an earlier game. That means they have a dunce for a coach. It looked like a bad HS offense.

The AZ Ucon game was fun to watch tonight. Nobody cares about the NBA until the playoffs.

I’ll reserve judgement for Sprinkle as a coach until I see Claude, Hannes and Ognacevic play together. Those are the three best basketball players on the team. Not best talents, not best future NBA players. They’re just good basketball players. Everything will look a lot smoother when those three play. Steinbach and Claude alone will help everything out a ton … I think.

It was fun watching Keptdong try to pop the ball every defensive possession
I wish big Frank would tip his blocks to a teammate or to himself. Often times, because he likes to swat the ball so violently, he puts himself and the defense out of position. If the ball doesn't end up in the stands it drops to the floor where the opposing team picks it up and lays it in. Seen it happen many, many times.

Tinkle for Sprinkle?
I piss myself at night for the guy. 2/0 shorthanded against two teams that wanted to kill him and his shadow booster.
We?ll be ready to dominate in March. I'm told that's how this sport works now. NGAF about November/Dec while Real Life still has a few weeks left.

UW will end up in the bottom half of the Big Ten.
Cook it
Touch on the doll where Husky Basketball hurt you. You sound like Jim Basnight. This ain’t the PAC 12 anymore. It’s possible you could be technically right about placing in the bottom half of the conference but 12th out of 18 in the B10 gets you an invitation to the dance. Just get in, roll the dice and see what happens. Have a cocktail and try to enjoy a really talented collection of basketball players. Eventually they’ll all be healthy enough to play together and we’ll see what happens.
