The Fisching Report Recruiting Thread Sponsored by The Fisch Bowl

It's slightly concerning that we have no true DL committed for this class (the Yang kid is projected as a guard and is probably not a P5-level recruit anyway) and don't really seem to be in on anyone of note. Last years DL recruiting was pretty meh too

DT is high on the list of concerns in recent years. I think they're gonna try hard to get Umu-Cais, but bet he's a guy other schools go after later as DT recruits run out. If they get the O'Dea DEs sounds like one, if not both, could slide to DT.
Remember when we had a run of Qualls, Vea, Gaines, Onwuzurike? Those were the days.

Once the poly kids started committing to the SEC, it was over for football out west.

Ta'amu and Shelton too. Even Sarkisian managed to get some dudes, including Qualls.
Edit...I think Ty actually recruited Alameda Ta'amu. Ty!

My only hope on Yang is that they saw him up close at a UW camp and offered really early and took his commit really early. The Odea kids will both slide inside IF they choose UW. They’re built similar to Levi coming out of HS. Listed as DE on the recruit sites but destined to play DL. Kafusi is not a good recruiter. He misses on every decent recruit he pursues, even his nephew/cousin or whatever Bott was to him. The big DL from Colorado won’t choose UW either. I’ve seen enough the last two years to know that with Kafusi as lead on him you can bank on that. Screen shot it if you want.

Journos always hype him and PaoPao up. It’s like they’re compensating for something…

Hopefully Kafusi turns into a Malloe situation, where he gets his reads down and starts plowing. Ikaika seemed crappy at first.

Paopao and Kaufusi can't seem to recruit their ways out of paper sacks in a tsunami. Paopao is at least at a position where I feel like underrated recruits frequently pan out. I thought Kaufusi was going to help us with Utah Poly guys? Is he on Colman-Brusa's recruitment at least?

I’m actually pretty solid that this kid chooses UW. Cancelled his visit to Oklahoma after visiting Seattle and moved up his choice by a couple weeks. I think he’s a Dawg.
I missed all of this. That’s extremely encouraging.
@theknowledge nailed it.

With Mason James committed, let's hope they can also flip one of the committed 4* WRs. They whiffed on closing last year with Olugbode and Marsh and I think one other highly-rated WR.

I still maintain that this shit doesn't matter nearly as much since Petersen's last classes barely cleared this, but it's undeniable how big the upgrade is in recruiting/selling the school and the coaches are still talking a big game of development that should show signs this year.

I feel like Judd personally closed DCB.

Pete’s last two classes had a top 10 average in rating per recruit. They were too small to make top ten but the quality of the 18-20 kids they closed was undeniably high end recruiting. Fishdicks classes look more like Pete’s first few. Some studs at top and a lot of mid rated, well offered, high upside players. You can win enough to make playoffs with classes like that if you can develop. IMHO You need the bigger names if you actually want to win some playoff games though.

stars matter… as does development. But I like stars better.
