The coming wealth flight from Wash State

I wonder why no one takes the democrat bleating about tariffs seriously? Hard to figure

For people with high incomes, Washington is still a low tax state relative to the other Western states outside of Alaska. I don’t think the capital gains tax moves the needle much. But I agree the estate tax is a significant consideration. And while it’s nice to see the legislation FINALLY raises the exclusion amount, after years of being stuck at about $2 million, and restores an annual inflation adjustment, these rates may well encourage the most wealthy retirees to leave.

California at least has prop 13 baked in from when we? were a red state. Not for a lack of dems trying to repeal it.
Los Angeles County managed to pass their mansion tax and within a year has a massive budget deficit. Total mystery.

But back to the point, California has no estate tax. So a wealthy retiree wanting to live on the coast would weigh that factor too.

And as an ultra progressive state why do you think that is?

But I told you Washington sucks for you. You’re pour.
Not a point in contention.
This thread is about the flight of wealth.
Another hot take
Democrats care don't you know. Jesus like I've heard
At least you're on the record
Democrats hate the poor and their policies hurt them

Being poor is a lack of character.
You newbie Republicans really need to catch up.

What would Jesus do?
He wouldn't blame Republicans for democratic policies that you gleefully admit fuck the poor
We have you on the record

California taxes people heavily during their earning years. And the olds vote so probably a bridge too far.

@h I'll give you points for an honest answer.
California is also the land of ultra wealthy libs and political families with inherited wealth.
Indeed, most of even the democrat boomers object to property and inheritance taxes.
Wealth and exit taxes warming up in the bullpen currently.

I don’t know the political composition of the 1930s Washington Supreme Court. But Washington law says an income tax is unconstitutional under our state constitution. 5 to 4, I believe.
Which party do you imagine most strongly resists imposition of a progressive income tax in Washington? We continue to have the poors pay a greater share of their incomes in taxes because every Republican wants it that way.
But on the bright side, I read recently that we have only the second most regressive state tax structure now. We’ll done, Mississippi!

This has nothing to do with the income tax you so desperately want
Hope this helps

If the legislature could get its income tax that they desperately want to save the poor, would they drop all of the others taxes that currently hurt the poor?
