The Case for NOT Expanding the CFB Playoff

You break all teams into tier 1 tier 2 and tier 3. How do you figure which team is in which tier? I don’t know use Sagarin ratings for like the last four years and average it out or something.

You play a home and home with a team from each Tier. You don’t get to pick your opponent. It’s a blind draw. Yes that means Alabama might have to go to Rice or something. Redo rankings every two years and do it again,

There are 4 open spots. Be a better conference if you want your conference represented on the big stage.

Did you know that after the first SEC Championship game that was on a one year contract ABC asked for how much to renew and the SEC asked for Rose Bowl money and got it

The SEC won 3 total natties from 1980- 2000. The sport was far better in this era than what we have now. It's boring as fuck to have the same 3 teams make the CFP every year and no one else matters.

I just been making the point I’d like to see 6 teams in, all Powrr 5(every conference has a chance, and no OBK, no one in any conference is gone skate through and “hold out” their best players til CFP, ya gotta win) and 1 at large. A better playoff would include 8 teams with NO automatic bids.

Set up a points system, based on the quality of your wins, with quality ROAD wins having a huge premium. All with no influence from rankings. Strictly merit based.

There should also be a huge penalty for playing FCS teams. No playoff team should have an FCS team on their schedule.

This would make good teams have to actually play other decent teams OOC and force the Teams from the South to actually travel outside of their time zone every year.

This expands the playoff, keeps more people engaged AND still makes every game important. It also gives no quarters to tradition or specific conference.
