The Case for Franklin

franklin did a GOOD job bringing pedo out of the shower scandal, but he hasnt shown he can win big games. but after watching pedo/indy on sunday, maybe its a pedo problem, and theyre cursed for 100 years.

Man, I really can't believe this is still going. Here's another problem with Franklin…coaches have life cycles and his may have peaked and gone. This season was absolutely set up for him and he still fell on his face. He got this Oregon team at home with his team coming off a bye and having played cupcakes and he still fucking lost and then proceeded to tank a season.
 
Yes, let’s absolutely spend $12 million a year on a guy who couldn’t get a national title at one of the blue blood programs.
Certainly, he’ll be able to get UW there!

Franklin has an objectively elite resume with a tOSU/Michigan problem (both winning natties during his tenure).
4 NY6 wins (5 if you count first round playoff win) in the last 8 years.

I don’t disagree with any of this really. I feel like with him he kept Penn State where it always was. Play no one till you have to and beat up on weaker opponents. I wonder how much Franklin would value the job and actually want to be here to be honest. We saw it with Ty, not comparing the two coaching wise at all. I feel like we’re the rebound girlfriend until he leaves for an NFL job or something
 
Franklin is a lot like Fisch in that failures are always someone else's fault. Speed option short side on 4th and goal, the players didn't execute.
His whining about runway lengths and travel and all that shit was comical.
He's not a bad coach the same way Whittingham isn't a bad coach. The same way Mark Richt wasn't a bad coach. Is he ever going to win big or have a modern football team? A million times no.
Penn State rightly said we are better than that. They may end up worse but at least they are trying to be better.

Franklin will probably want to fuck over Penn State and take $250k or something for a few years and put the difference between his “value” and his new contract paid in cash into NIL. Wherever he goes he’s gonna rack up the talent quickly as Penn St funds his new roster. He won’t win big with it still but expect a quick upswing just from the math.

Recruiting: He would be the best pure recruiter we've had at head coach since Petersen. Consistent top 15 classes and a handful of top 5 classes in his tenure.
Get in and roll the ball out: The current playoff requires you be good enough to get in. He won two playoff games last year and barely lost in the semi. He would have made the playoffs the following years:
2016, 2017, 2019, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 which is 7/11 years when you take out 2020 covid year. You take that all day long at Washington.
I do believe in breakthrough theory, He got victimized by Urban Meyer and Harbaugh. Just like Harbaugh got victimized by Urban. If Petersen didn't give up I believe he would have broken through. Franklin has feces in his throat and egg on his face. I like that combo. A chip on the shoulder asshole head coach with something to prove and can bring elite talent into the building. He'll break through eventually.
His teams do seem to collapse. Back to back years he had 1point losses to tOSU and they dropped the next game to MSU. We saw it this year when the team absolutely gave up after choking to Oregon. PSU was right to let him go, but they also will surely hire a worse coach in his place and will ultimately regret it.

Hire Franklin and you will stay nationally relevant with more than a coin flips chance at the playoffs every season.

Or continue to pray the gay away with Jedd. Either way it will be interesting.

upper academis would never let this happen based on his personality. He surely doesn’t kiss much ass and would not play nice with the libtards.
if you could tell me he’d push for ten win regular season and be on fringe of playoffs every yr, I’d take him.
I don’t think he’d want to come to udub though.
also, we’re stuck with fisher of boys so quit with the hypotheticals.

Dude our upper campus doesn't care beyond the wins and losses and the balance sheet.
8 wins probably sounds like an amazing season to them and clearly their bullshit radar never went off with Jedd.

Depending on who Franklin hired as OC he would do fine here. If he hired a West Coast guru ala a Tedford, the sky is the limit.
He would bring in some of the best recruiting classes UW has ever seen.
Husky Stadium is a harder place to play than Beaver Stadium which is insanely overrated.
He would probably peak at final four just like he did at Pedo State.
That said, it's moot because the only way Jedd is getting shown the door is if the team is 7-6 or worse in year 4.
So we better fucking hope Jedd pulls his head from his ass and figures out how to coach an offense and call plays. And we better hope he can hold on to Walters at DC.
All this talk is fun and all, but HH cant fire Fisch, and Chun sure as shit isnt.
