The subsidy is an old state law from decades ago meant to encourage gender diversity in college sports (ie, to establish and finance women's sports at the D-1 level). That money is used entirely for sports like women's volleyball, soccer, softball and other sports that run in the red.

If you're hear to talk about those sports, then that's fine. If you're here claiming that the subsidy helps football, you're FS.
