were widely considered the greatest college football team ever as they prepared for the HUGE underdog Miami Hurricanes. No shot

Which is the only shot Miami has this year against the current best ever. That's why they play the game. Cig won't let the Hoosiers get a fat head and they are grown men not teenagers but still the hype is incredible

@creepycoug

Mike Rozier was a bad ass until that game.

Nebraska classy made its first appearance Jan.1.1984 by Tom Osborne - had he gone for the tie and kicked the extra point it was widely recognized they would have won the 83 natty before a natty was a thing. People forget that

@creepycoug

That was a great game. My second favorite Orange Bowl.

A greased up Ibis is a vicious animal. We’re about to see how it does against a greased up Hoosier. Should be a great game.

people forget, it wasn't some miracle. Canes jumped out to 17-0 lead as Husker couldn't figure out what to do with this pro style offense and sharp shooting RS quarterback with a JewFro. Some desperate trickeration in the second quarter helped Husker rally but it was Miami's day.

Little known or widely forgotten story. Miami's leading tackler, middle LB George Mira, Jr., was controversially kept out of the game against a team that ran the ball a little. His replacement was freshman Bernard Tiger Clark, and, much like Hosier, everyone and their mother thought Miami's D had no chance against the juggernaut NU offense. Alas, Clark was a monster in the game, Miami hit hard, punched Husker in the mouth repeatedly and forced 6 fumbles, though miraculously Husker only lost one of them. I remember it vividly, losing my shit every time the ball would bounce the right way for Nebraska.

Greatest game in cfb history. Please don't talk to me about USC and Texas. Pfft.

I didn't forget. He chose to be a man and play to win. You'd have to be extremely gay or a woman to go for the tie in that situation.

And the natty 'was a thing' in 1984. I can say for sure because I saw it.

The other day @creepycoug my kids say to me "Hey, Dad, did you know Miami is playing a home game for the National Championship?" I told them, duh, that's the Miamuh way- i.e., 3 out 5 of the Natties were home games including the bull shit AP 1991 Natty. Noting's changed with them me boys.

Hard to hear you disrespect USC that way.

USC plays in the Coliseum, ese, not the Rose Bowl.
Well aware. Doesn't matter, unless we're back to talking about bus schedules, driving directions and mattresses.

In 100 years you're never going to get me to move off of this. I was actually at the 1983 game. I've been there when OU was there, too, and other games when Nebraska was there.

I'd say the main difference back then for NU and OU, who basically owned that bowl game because of the Big 8 tie-in is that it was arguably harder for most of the B10 champs. NU and OU traveled like balls back then.

I actually expect something similar here with Hosier but we'll wait and see. It's not quite a home game.

you’re not wrong but neither am I. A home stadium game is a home game.

Also, the internet was barely invented during the last Cane run so I haven’t dealt with greased up Cubans before.

Really shocking to see you, and now Race, disregard the accomplishments of THE standard bearer of west coast football.

I'm aggrieved and might have to DM you about my feelings.
