Tevis Bartlett to Washington!

Tevis Bartlett is heading to Washington.

Bartlett -- a 6-foot-4, 215-pound quarterback and safety for Cheyenne East High School -- verbally committed to the Pac-12 school, announcing his decision Thursday morning at his high school.

He also had offers from California, Colorado, Colorado State, Iowa, Oregon, Utah and Wyoming. He made numerous unofficial visits to Laramie, but took his five official visits to Washington, Iowa, Oregon, Utah and Colorado.

In a dazzling prep career, Bartlett amassed 4,112 passing yards and 34 passing touchdowns, 3,613 rushing yards and 46 rushing scores, three receiving touchdowns, one defensive touchdown, 145 total tackles and one interception. That included 1,081 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns, 1,179 passing yards and nine passing touchdowns and 44 tackles in his senior season in 2014.

A Rivals three-star prospect, Bartlett's most prolific season came in 2013, when the junior led Class 4A with 1,400 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns on 230 carries, while also passing for 1,521 yards and 13 more scores. After Cheyenne East secured a state championship, Bartlett was named the 2013-14 Gatorade Wyoming football Player of the Year. He was selected to the Star-Tribune's Super 25 in both 2013 and 2014.

Bartlett has also proven more than capable on the defensive side of the ball, having racked up 57 solo tackles, 30 assists and two fumble recoveries in the 2013 season. Much of that success was spurred by his background in wrestling, where the three-time state champ posted a 46-0 record in his junior season and is 138-5 through the first three years of his high school career.

I saw his junior highlights over the summer.... This kid is a baller! Thought there was no chance we'd get him. Petersen is killing it, wow.

Seriously, definitely an OKG: “In my life, where I’ve made some of my biggest strides is when I’ve gotten out of my comfort zone,” Bartlett told the Casper Star-Tribune. “Obviously, Seattle is a little bit different than Cheyenne, Wyoming. I just felt like that would really help me grow as a person. It felt like the right choice.”

This is a kid when you watch the film you just see a player ... forget all the other BS about how great hips are, how fast they are, etc.

One thing that Charles and Donald have been stressing has been the importance for Washington to get back to recruiting football players and not so much being enamored by the stars or whether or not the player is some kind of track standout. Some of that might be important with some of the skill positions, but it's really not. Football at the highest level is highly technical, highly nuanced, and a lot about want to than it is about physical gifts. It's when you combine all the other stuff with physical gifts that you get the freak kind of players.

Getting a kid like this also speaks VOLUMES about the message that Petersen is sending and that the kids are buying the messaging. A kid like Bartlett have the kind of attributes that you find littered up and down the roster of high caliber teams.

I don't know. Not enough stars between him and Chief Jusstis Warren. Sark probably would've never taken such Plan-B guys. bleh bleh bleh...

Enough bullshit. This class of LBs is outstanding. Gotta get Potoae, but this class of LBs is just outstanding. Guys that get to the ball in a hurry and stop drives. Travis Feeney will have plenty of guys to mentor next year.

And the added benefit to me of having a deep LB class is that you tend to get great special teams play as a result.
